We had the good fortune of connecting with Herlie Wilbanks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Herlie, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
According to the University of Kentucky, “Thomas Edison’s teachers said he was “too stupid to learn anything.” As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.””

In Habakkuk 2:3, For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Some of us are like Thomas Edison who face many challenges in life. When you have a vision, it is a sign not to give up. Every unsuccessful attempt is a form of learning and creating new steps or direction to your vision. If you see your unsuccessful attempts as a failure this will lead you to give up on your vision. Our vision is like a puzzle, every piece leads us to the big picture.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hermilia Yves is about quality, not quantity. We do not believe in over / mass production. It’s much more important to us that we custom tailor, exclusive garments for our clients. That’s not to say that we cannot or haven’t made more than one, or matching items for our clients. But if you are looking for something custom tailored and unique, then Hermilia Yves may be what you are looking for.

Our journey has been a long, hard road. We’ve overcome many delays, and obstacles. There have been times where it seemed like everything was pilling up against us, and everything was determined to grind us into just another failure that yesterday forgot. But we’ve never given up. Sometimes obstacles are only detours, when your determined to kept pushing forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The Morikami Museum has an impressive restaurant called the Cornell Café. My favorite dish is the Japanese Curry Chicken and to drink is strawberry ramune (Japanese soda). I choose Morikami and Japanese Garden it has a peaceful environment and the landscaping extraordinary. This place make you feel like you are not in Florida.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanted to thank Jesus for leading me to have the right people in my life. My love of my life I am very grateful to have my husband by my side and being supportive. I wanted to thank Denise and Fernando by accepting me to be part of R-Fittingroom. I am very appreciated to have my sister Maggie, Merky, Kurt, Dani, Daphne, and Lawanda for believing in me.
