We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Colletti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Getting 9-5 job for stable income. I think this may be good for a lot of people and also not great for a lot of people. We are stripped from creativity at such a young age. I wish that is was more accepted to really follow our dreams and be creative about the way we make a living which will most likely allow for more flexibility in scheduling and gratitude for ourselves/life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am constantly growing. I love to learn. Sometimes certain things don’t resonate with me, but I am open to hearing about different views and taking the information that does help me personally and applying it to my life and/or my teachings.
I am most proud and excited about the retreats that I host. The awesome feedback and interactions I have had with students keeps me wanting to continue to host and better the retreats every time! I am also super excited to have a different style of retreats in the near future that will open up a different avenue of clientele. I really think that the new additions to the style of retreats that I host is going to be very beneficial and healing to many.
Was it easy getting to where I am? I mean I wouldn’t say hard or easy. Definitely work. But I love doing what I do and helping as many people as I can. That does not seem “hard.” More exhausting at times haha!
Challenges always come. All experiences you learn from. Some of them require multiple lessons before you get the picture. I had to practice detachment. Know that the experiences that were difficult and created some obstacles were all valuable lessons. These lessons are a must to apply for the future so the same difficult experiences are not recurring.
A lot of lessons I learned were through retreats. Dealing with so many different personalities. The planning is easy. It is when you have people that lack trust or just have expectations outside a fully thought out detail plan where things may arise. Again, I wouldn’t trade any of that. It is only making me stronger and allowing for more growth.
I started yoga to heal by back from an injury in 2007. Yoga has definitely taken me to a place physically that I did not think was possible, especially after my doctor said I needed surgery at 26 years of age. Our bodies are amazing and very resilient. As long as we put our minds to it and are consistent with taking action and respecting our bodies where they are at, so many things are possible! We tend to underestimate how our bodies can heal because we limit ourselves mentally. I want to be able to help as many people as possible, and if I cannot help refer to contacts I have that may. We are in this together!
With the right tools and mindset we can overcome so many things.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is going to be boring haha! I don’t drink nor eat out much. Thankfully my friends know me well and I know them well too 🙂 so we are kind of on the same page with that.
We would wake up early, get our morning routines down. Then I would say for sure the beach during off hours or the weekdays.
Definitely hit up some plant based or farm to table restaurants and for dinner pick a place that is a little more upbeat socially.
We would go down to Miami as well for some acro yoga and get some food at Plant (one of my favorite spots as well one of my best friends).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to one shout out to my fiance. He is my biggest supporter. Both logical and respectful, he always has great advice. It’s funny because a lot of times he knows me better than myself!
Also, a shout out to my family who always supported me and encouraged me to follow my heart. It means a lot coming from the close people around you that you care about.
