We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Garnier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia, how do you think about risk?
“Do it scared” has been my motto and driving force. I find it necessary to push past the fear and doubts if I am to achieve anything, particularly anything of purpose. When that internal voice tells me that I can’t or shouldn’t do something, I answer it with “Do it scared” because courage is not the absence of fear but being able to push past it and taking the risk nonetheless. Risk scares us because of the unknown outcome but sometimes all we need to know is the intense desire we have and the work we are willing to put forward to satisfy it. We don’t always know if it will end how we hope but we can always give it our best.

In late 2021, I went through a complete rebranding of my company. I was terrified to change what I’d been comfortable in. However, it was the best decision because the business now expresses who I am and the effect I want to provoke. It has been highly beneficial even when the results turn out unsatisfactory because I earn a new lesson and blueprint on how to accomplish my goal. When the results are good I reap the rewards. Ultimately, I don’t lose when I do it scared and take the risks.”

What should our readers know about your business?

Although I’ve been baking since childhood, If I’d been asked 7 years ago about making artistic cakes for special events, I would’ve said no . Yet, around 2019, I launched the business under the name ” Cynful Treats”. However, After having to take a hiatus from baking. I’ve now rebranded to “Radiance Cake Artistry”. What sets us apart is we genuinely and purposely thrive to make the experience delightful and pleasing, even if we our focus on the customization making sure it never takes away the attention to taste.

I’m very excited about my rebranding. The name change reflects my vision and spirit for the new journey I’m creating. This vision conveys that no matter the circumstances of life you always radiate your best self. Also looking to shipping our brownies within the U.S.

There is nothing easy about starting, managing, or maintaining a business. You have to deal with the rejections, fluctuation of sales, and all of the emotional, mental , physical challenges, all while managing your personal life. I’ve learned to overcome it by keeping my “Why” in the forefront. Why do I do this despite all of the challenges? Also, I maintain appreciation for the good and bad moments because they’re all teaching and learning moments.

I want the world to know about me is I love what I do so to be able to bring my passion of baking and merged it with creating edible art has been one of the greatest joys of my life. And I hope that comes across in every bite.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m always working but when I go out I’m usually looking for a new taco place, a hole in the wall with surprisingly good food or somewhere to relax and unwind. One of my favorite places to go for relaxation and simply enjoy the view of the city is Miami Shores Village Bayfront Park. I love watching the waves dance and on rare delightful occasions, I might even see dolphins gallivanting through the bay. I may also Go to a Miami Heat game, and I frequent Pilo’s tequila garden or The Taco Stand for tacos. I like museums and art too. I will go Catch an amazing laser show at the Frost Science museum or visit the aquarium. One of my nightspots is Lagniappe, a cozy New Orleans-style wine bar located adjacent to Wynwood that plays live music nightly. You can grab a favorite glass or bottle of wine, and build your own cheese and meat plate. They even have fresh meat and fish off the grill and as well as a beautiful backyard aesthetic. Wynwood walls on a less busy night is also a go-to to enjoy the art without the crowd and catch some amazing desserts from Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop or whatever new restaurant that pops up. I recently went to RHouse Wynwood for brunch, it was a great show with unlimited mojitos and amazing food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly, I dedicate this shout-out to my mother who is my guiding light, my father who told me to be limitless, and my tribe for their unwavering faith in me and this passion I want to share with the world. My mentors, Janelle and Eddie Copeland, for giving me the tools (mental, educational) to survive the tolls of being a business owner. To my followers who have been extremely supportive by liking my pictures, ordering my desserts, sharing my art with others . This brings me the upmost joy in being able to share my gift with everyone. To all the people who are scared to take a risk on themselves because of sadness or doubt, believe in yourself and “Do it Scared”.
