We had the good fortune of connecting with The Listening Room and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Listening Room, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Bego and I are Ontological Coaches and met two years ago when we co-founded a Foundation for Women in Miami. We immediately connected and found that not only did we share a great passion for helping women but we were moved by an overwhelming need to “head out into the world at large”. It was only after endless conversations about the relationship issues we had both encountered in our coaching sessions and in our own contexts that one day it just came to us: we wanted to create a “room” for women where we could help them create and live better relationships. A room where they would feel understood and loved, where they could share their experiences and feelings with other women in similar situations. And this is how we created “The Listening Room”.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are profoundly passionate about what we do. We see this as the very first and the foundation stone of our business. We truly believe we can definitely work on the way we want to live our lives and, more specifically, our relationships. Having identified this, it was “easy” for us to work together towards the same goal. We say that finding your passion is key, and sharing it with a partner is a gift. However, setting up our business was not easy. It’s one thing to do something you really love, but it’s another to turn it into a business. As entrepreneurs, there are thousands of unexpected outcomes, and things do not always turn out to be the way you want. And in our case this was no exception. At those moments when things did not go the way we’d hoped for, we found, on the one hand, that hanging on to our passion was the driver to get us through difficult times and, on the other, we were convinced there was something to learn from those situations. We have learned that it is worth giving things a try, while accepting the way things are instead of resisting and struggling to get exactly what we want.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since Bego and I are based in different cities and lead “nomadic” lives, it is not easy to identify “our area”. But let’s say Miami, since it’s where Bego spends most of her time, and where I usually go as well. There are many spots we love in Miami, but most of them are parks or hidden oases that the locals may not even know. Just to mention a few of our favorites: The Boaters Grill at Key Biscayne (Bill Bags Park), the Tower Teather in the famous Calle 8, the Mandolin restaurant (Greek food, cozy environment, our favorite!), or Peacok Garden (Coconut Grove) ideal for brunches in peaceful surroundings.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A very special thanks to our family, who have supported us and believed in our project! A special mention to our mentor, Adriana Monsalve, who has been a key person in our love for Coaching And lastly, to our partners at Fundación Amani who have also inspired us to get where we are now.
