We had the good fortune of connecting with Patty Perera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patty, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting up my own health and fitness coaching business was simple. I wanted to help people. I teach, guide, and help people understand that through bettering their food choices, improving their relationship with food, and making movement and strength training a priority, they will feel empowered to take control over their health and body and feel good. I believe building a strong foundation centered around daily habits is the key to long lasting results and success. Our daily actions determine the trajectory of our lives. And I’m here to help my clients through it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Registered Nurse and Personal Coach. I am very proud of the risks I’ve taken in life to get to where I am today. It was not an easy road, it was filled with many potholes, but I was determined to navigate through it all. Everytime I got knocked down, I brushed off the dust, and got back up. It’s the only way I know how to lead…I keep going. There’s no giving up around here.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way:
–Be present in the moment…we don’t get time back so enjoy your time with family and friends.
–Consistency/discipline over perfection will get your farther in life than anything else.
–There is always room for improvement.
–The greatest investment you will ever make is in YOU.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start the itinerary with going to Miami Beach for the sunrise, followed breakfast at Big Pink. One day would be dedicated to Wynwood and it’s art walls and it’s great eateries. I’d also take them to beautiful Coral Gables. Homestead although a bit of a ride south has amazing Mexican Restaurants and Robert is Here for natural fruit shakes. The Florida Keys are a gem and each one has something great and particular to see. I’d also take them to the Gulf Coast and hit Marco Island, Naples, Ft Myers and even Tampa/Orlando. There’s so much to see and do in the state of Florida.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my parents for their love and support and for instilling the values of hard work ethic, kindness, and determination from a very young age. I’d also like to recognize my closest and dearest friends who have been there for advice, feedback, and simply for listening to me. The many kind health/fitness industry people I’ve met on IG and FB who have taught me so much along the way. And of course, my gym fam for always spotting me, always looking out for me, always helping me out and being supportive especially with my coaching business. And lastly but certainly not least, a big shoutout to my all my clients…I am so proud of each of you, you make my day brighter, you challenge me and make me a better coach and human. I am blessed and thankful…thank you all. Really.
