We had the good fortune of connecting with Teyler Leigh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teyler, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Dallas, TX. I feel like the way I was raised prepared me to take on life really well. I always can remember my mom always telling me that I could be whatever I wanted to be and to do whatever I wanted to do. That definitely stuck with me and shaped me into the person I am today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting with my name being spelled differently than any Taylor/Teyler I’ve known of, I feel like I’ve always been unique and that is what sets me apart from others. I always knew I would be different growing up as I’ve always had a different thought process than my peers. I’m currently proud of how far I’ve come on my journey to success and spirituality, and also recognize how far I still have left to go. I believe I’ve made it this far as a 21-year-old because of my inability to give up on things I’ve started. I’ve often felt like giving up, as that’s easier than keeping going, but I simply don’t know how to. The journey to where I am today wasn’t easy at all, but I don’t think anything worth having comes easy but will always be worth it. Some of my favorite life lessons include “make yourself necessary and you will always be needed” and “rule your mind or it will rule you.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m currently bi-coastal, where I go back and forth from LA to Miami. I enjoy doing outdoor activities such as jumping off boats, riding jet skis, seeing new things, trying new vegan food, going to see views at rooftop bars, and I enjoy the beach anywhere I go. Luckily both coasts have that option, so I would take someone visiting to do those sort of thrill-seeking activities.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom definitely deserves the most recognition in my story as she’s my creator, as well as my mentor. She has built me up to be the strong woman that I am today. As well as my mom, a favorite book of mine is The Four Agreements. It’s a personal favorite of mine because I feel like no matter where you are in life or how many times you’ve read it, it brings you back to where you need to be mentally, and reminds you of ways to get back to your personal and emotional freedom.
