We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I originally got started with Beau Swim by wanting to start a sustainable luxury swimwear company. This was something that I felt was missing from the industry. We see either luxury or sustainable, but rarely see both combined. During the early start to the pandemic I was laid off from my position with a menswear company in California. I then decided it was the perfect time to start my own brand. I visually had so many ideas and knew the aesthetic I was going to go for. I started fast, developing, designing, trademarking, and sourcing. I studied the swimwear industry and business development when I was in college. I went to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. I majored in Product Development and went on to earn a degree in Business Management, so everything I studied in school helped me each step of the way of development of Beau Swim!

What should our readers know about your business?
When developing Beau, I knew that everything about this company needed to stand out in some way. Our factory is ethical, our fabrics are high end and we use mostly sustainable fabrics, and we give back a portion of every sale to charity. I wanted to not only create a sexy swimwear company, but one with a purpose. With each purchase we donate a portion of the sale to the R.O.L.E Foundation which is a foundation in Indonesia that educates businesses on how to be more sustainable in the workplace, and how employees can also be more sustainable in their everyday life. The foundation also sets up beach clean ups, and helps to keep the beaches clean. Giving back is a very rewarding feeling for the company, and me personally.

When it comes to getting the business where it is today, it has been quite the journey so far. We launched February 1st, 2021. Like most companies, we started slow but were persistent. Late March 2021, PlanetFashionTV found us on Instagram, loved our designs and invited us to showcase at Miami Swim Week in the summer! This is one thing that I am extremely proud of. We had our first Miami Swim Week fashion show on July 9th, the most insane moment in Beau Swims history so far. We gained a lot of publicity and attention from the show, and we are excited to announce we will be in Miami Swim Week again this year with PlanetfashionTV!

There were and still are challenges that we face. Marketing is our biggest challenge and something that we still are improving more each month. But like any company, we are driven to continue to grow this brand and learning along the way is how we are continuing to scale and improve.

We will continue to create the sexiest, high end, and sustainable swimwear for both men and women!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are based in Los Angeles, so the best spots to visit in my opinion would be Malibu, specifically El Matador Beach and go have a drink at Paradise Cove! I love going out in Santa Monica at the Bungalow or Victorian. Fav spots to eat are Simmzy’s Manhattan Beach, C&O in Venice, and Kazu Nori in Downtown! You can never go wrong at the beach, or some sunset hiking in the hills!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my parents for their constant love and support through this crazy journey!
