We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, how do you think about risk?
Coming from a small city in Virginia, Charlottesville to be exact from birth I’ve always felt we all were born to take risk! I’ve learned different results from taking different risk. Like, being afraid to take risk or not thinking twice about taking risk. We take risk everyday wether it’s us going outside, being in the comfort of our own homes, in the cooperate/business world and so much more. To sum it up I’ve overcame risk by recognizing the opportunity from taking risk! I was 23 years old when I first opened “Dop3 Fashion” I was young and I lot of people doubted me. They all wonder how I was going to do it and be able to afford the overhead to run a Boutique. I had taken a business workshop in 2015 called Community Investment Collaborative which was pretty risky to me! I say it was risky because I was just jumping out there investing money and time in something I wasn’t so sure that it would work out at the time! In that workshop I did learn how to create a business plan, legalize my business, learn cash flow and so much more! In the end it was a Success! My advice would be to take all the risk needed and “Start The Business”
What should our readers know about your business?
Im very big on Originality! Being yourself, creative and standing out to create your very own identity with all kinds of styles and types of fashion. As in “Fashion Is What You Buy & Style Is What You Make It” In the Boutique we carry lines that you usually can’t find in department stores. You would only be able to find these brands in Boutiques! I buy different brands from all over the world. Most of the time I travel to hand pick our inventory. My goal in which succeeded I provide reasonably priced clothing and accessories. I also have some think that being called a Boutique means our stuff is expensive but its not the most expensive items would be the designer resold at our boutique. The least expensive thing at the Boutique would be our $3 rack, Where everything is $3 or you could fill a bag for $10 bucks!! Customers can find brand new, used clothing, accessories and so much more on this rack! We sell brand new, used merchandise and offer consignment on luxury goods At Dop3 Fashion! We only order 2-6 pieces of one item to ensure everyone wont be wearing the same thing. Shopping with us, Our customers knows it wont be 30 other people wearing the same thing! Our Fashion we Provide is very rare. (Remember we want everyone to have their own unique identity!) Throughout our 6 Years we’ve added a Mini spa as apart of our Boutique where we provide Teeth Whitening. Eye Lash Extensions, Massages and more to come to our One Stop Shop! Staying active and consistent for 6 years now as definitely been challenging but worth it and a lot of fun!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visiting Charlottesville is very peaceful In Charlottesville the downtown mall is very popular and not let forget the strip up UVA. When friends visit we hit Dop3 Fashion for our fits, Richmond, DMV, ATL, NYC to lounge, Big cities to party, Beaches to show skin, (Lol) We enjoy trying new restaurants, food trucks and trying different cultures of foods. Going to different state and cities to different museums! Personally I love visiting New York City and California!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If it wasn’t for God himself giving me the strength and knowledge to be able to run any business Im not sure where I’d be! To my Mother, Family, Mentors Dace, Steve, Vernon, Friends, CIC, my property manger Linda for giving me a shot while being so young, The Levenson Family for allowing me to still work for them as a PCA during and after I opened the Boutique, All my supporters then and now. I appreciate everyone who has played a part in our Journey I’m forever grateful!
