Meet Taiece Lanier | Luxury Closet Designer & Organizer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taiece Lanier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taiece, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I always knew I wanted to have my own business someday.

I started my career as a Fashion Coordinator and Luxury Personal Shopper. As a personal shopper, I would spend a lot of time in my client’s closets, putting looks together for different events and keeping their closets organized so it would be easy to find things when needed. I would even help my clients edit their closets regularly, so I would have enough room to place new items. I had a lot of fun helping my clients stay organized and look their best. It was during this time when a light bulb in my head went off that I should start a closet organizing business. I love fashion and organizing, so this would be a great opportunity to merge them both together and start a business. My thought was everyone has a closet, and I’m sure they could use this service. My close friends always complained that they had nothing to wear and they could never find anything in their closets even though their closets were full of clothes. I felt it would be a lot more people out there struggling with the same problem, and my business would be their solution.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Closet Editors specializes in custom closet design, editing, organizing, and styling. What I feel sets us apart from the competition is that we have a special niche. We only service closets. That’s our specialty. We are the one-stop-shop for all things closets. We help you get and stay organized through custom closet designs and organizing solutions. Whether you need a custom build-out, closet editing, organization, or help with your style, we can help.

I’m most proud of our expansion into multiple cities. We have built amazing partnerships over the years. We started off in Miami and now service Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and West Palm Beach.

I remember just starting my business and thinking, how am I going to continue to get clients. I was thankful to have my personal shopping clients refer me in the beginning, but I always knew that wouldn’t be enough. I sent an email introduction of my business to my network and received a good amount of referrals from there. I was always networking and planting myself in the rooms where my ideal client would be. There were days when I doubted myself and questioned if I was in the right business. I’m so grateful to have had my mom and other accountability partners to help me keep going. I just needed to get out of my own head. I had a solid idea and the skills to do it. I just needed to be consistent, pray, have faith, and do the work.

When I launched Closet Editors, I could never imagine it would be where it is today. I think what helped me the most through my journey is that I’m a big risk-taker. I have failed multiple businesses, but I never gave up. Failures have taught me that nothing is final and to embrace change. Through those failures, I have learned so many lessons that have helped me be the businesswoman I am today.

I started Closet Editors to change lives. I wanted to help people find joy when getting dressed and have clarity in their space. I want people to look and feel their best. Be confident in their wardrobe decisions and find things easily. The goal is to have a beautifully organized closet full of clothes you love

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting me, we would start our morning of hiking at Runyon Canyon, then grab breakfast at The Penthouse, with amazing views of the ocean. After breakfast, we would go home and get ready for a Spa Day at the Waldorf Astoria. One of my favorite spas:) After the spa, we would get ready for dinner at il Pastaio on Rodeo Drive, the food is so fresh, nice vibe and it’s packed everyday. Please try the ravioli stuffed with spinach; so good! After dinner, we would go to a lounge for music and drinks.

I love outdoor activities and trying new restaurants. Throughout the week, we would go paddle boarding, ice skating, bowling, boating, tennis, try some wineries in Malibu or drive up to Santa Barbara. I love a good rooftop pool to relax and soak up some sun as well:)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shout-out to my beautiful mom! She always gave me solid advice and encouraged me to be great. She supports me in everything I do. I wouldn’t be where I am without her. She was and still is my biggest fan:)
