We had the good fortune of connecting with JaVonni Brustow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JaVonni, what do you want people to remember about you?
Legacy is a major, yet important thing to always consider. I like Frank Sinatra’s mantra of doing it my way. When it’s all said and done I want it to be shown that I’ve helped as many people as I could and left the world in a better place as much as I possibly could. Whether it’s helping to further the careers of others, helping solve community problems and environmental issues, I want to make sure I leave a positive impact. That is on top of building my own empire, of course. And I want to show it can all be done with a clear conscience by being morally sound as well.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At this point in my career, a lot of my previous professional experiences, some of which I questioned the relevance at the time are what’s gained me the respect I have today. My professionalism and preparedness is what I’m known for the most. My mediating and conflict resolution skills came from my time working in mental health and how I was able to help control and out of control work environment. Working as a Mayor’s Executive Assistant as well as being a community advocate helped give me the ability to learn to leverage political relationships as well as having insight on how society works to get things done. The World Bank helped me be more cultured, all of which has put me in demand today whether it is working as Vice President of The Misty TV Firm, interviews with The Media Mogul News Hour or oeprating my company VM3 Media.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This year I ended up working on New Years Eve as a Communications Director for a school board campaign in Maryland but managed to take some time away not far away in Richmond, VA’s Kabana Rooftop Restaurant on the top floor of the Homewood Suites there. Of course the food was great but the ambience of the view was exceptional. I also had a day of taping of The Blaque Okane Rockfest, Misty Blanco’s reality show and tour held at 63Thirty5 in Richmond, a restaurant and club that’s seen performances from the likes of Ceelo Green, Lil Mo, Trina, etc. It’s a venue that sports great music and rarely do I find something as simple as wings that I’m absolutely crazy about. They’re probably the first for that with me. And lastly I’m a big fan of Capitol Waffle Shop downtown. For one, who doesn’t enjoy waffles but the fact that they have the most varied and creative waffle lineup has me wanting some whenever I’m downtown.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Misty Blanco and The Misty TV Firm. Misty is formerly Mysterious from MTV’s Making the Band that I met in the most unlikeliest of places, downtown Petersburg, VA during a day of campaigning where I almost didn’t make it as I had been outside for hours and barely able to stand at that point. The rest has been history since then. I’ve become both her publicist and company Vice President going along on tour with her with my show The Media Mogul News Hour airing on The Misty TV Channel on Roku.
