We had the good fortune of connecting with Yariela Sequeira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yariela, can you share with us a lesson you’ve learned from someone important in your life?
The biggest lesson gifted to me by my significant other is the awareness of the commitment and attachment patterns I had ignored for decades. I used to judge and blame my partner for different behaviors until I was able to acknowledge I was displacing and/or projecting. My partner has been a great mirror in my life, shining bright into aspects of myself I had ignored or denied, such as me considering I had a “wall.” Within my relationship, chapters of the story I had told myself for years had to be re-evaluated given the dynamic I was creating or recreating with him. Through my relationship with my partner I have been able to explore further whether or not I was/am ok with the way I express love, I have been able to tap into a spectrum of repressed fears I was not even aware I carried within.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of my eclectic style and brand. For instance, I incorporate Reiki, oracle cards, aromatherapy, clinical research, shamanic beliefs, plant medicine research, and spiritual practices into my brand. I offer my clients as many perspectives I am aware of in order to best assist their path. I have confirmed that the best way to “be” is by being my/your genuine self, with mistakes and all. By staying true to my style those I work with have been able to really “feel” where I am coming from and why I propose whatever it is I propose. There are times when my approach does not work, yet exploring what can is always the solution, even if that means referring my client out. Becoming comfortable in my own skin took time. A spiritual curiosity arose nine years ago, and since then I have learned and continue learning on the power of self-connecting and self awareness. I have taken different courses and participated in different ceremonies, trainings and personal retreats to gather tools to better understand and confront my challenges. Aside from my formal, academic education, what I would like the world to know about me and my brand is that we are one. When you choose to work with me, you will get to know me, and I you. Through our connection we will explore and redefine what you seek to address.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not much of a party animal, so my plan basically includes good food and chill places for good conversations. After work, to enjoy a very affordable Friday happy hour, I’d suggest SuViche. It’s chill, great pizcos and good food (delicious Alfajores!). Of course, a walk through Wynwood is always a must. The next day I would offer a low-key, but delicious lunch at El Cerro Negro (one of my two top Nica restaurants). However, if we want to cook lunch, then a drive to Crandon Park for a breezy and intimate bb-q with the ocean as a background cannot go wrong. At night time, Los Altos is a fun place with good music. On the third day, (Sunday) I’d love to introduce them to the Yellow Green Farmer’s market as I could share all the goodies they offer (and I love) while also picking up delicious fruits/organic produce, lunch and some cold drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people have been supporting me and my business, even before my private practice existed. I was fearful of “not being ready,” or “not making it.” I launched myself into private practice with the support of Paola A. Rodriguez, psychotherapist, who not only motivated me but also took me under her group wings until I was able to set sail on my own. Xiomara Suarez, another amazing therapist and friend, was also a huge support in taking this leap. My brother and father have also pushed me to challenge my fears with a celebratory spirit. Then, once I launched my private practice, each and every one of my clients have not only kept my business alive, but growing. I am thankful for each and every client, friend, family and peers who have cheered me on in their own way!!
