We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Cancino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paula, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most exciting part in my entrepreneurship beside creating zero waste skin products is seeing at such a young age my little girls using only natural products for their skincare regimen. And I think I managed to inspire them already because I see them pampering themselves with the zero waste organic products I create. Seeing them pick up a lotion bar, and eco friendly lip balm before they go to bed every night brings me so much joy. And I love how our 5 year old always remembers to take the Bug-Off lotion bar I created thanks to them a couple years ago; every time we leave the house. There is nothing better than being able to teach my little ones at such a young age the elimination of plastic waste and toxic ingredients.

What should our readers know about your business?
One of the hardest challenges is trying to built a zero waste lotion bar business coming out of COVID! It was very challenging to just start and learn all the ropes alone, but more challenging to spread awareness of what a lotion bar is!
All I have accomplished in such little time definitely comes from passion and love I have for what I do.

It is hard and challenging but its so rewarding hearing all the great feedback from so many customers.

One of my biggest accomplishments, thanks to my little ones by not wanting to spray bug repellents on them anymore, is when I created a zero waste all natural repellent I call Bug-Off Lotion Bar.
I always give my kids credit for this, because I would not have come up with this concept if it was not for them, wanting something better on their skin all while eliminating the toxic ingredients, deet, and spraying factor.

Starting a business from scratch all on your own is challenging and we always learn as we go.

Because I know how challenging it can be; at the beginning of this year once a week I always post about a women owned small business! I do a shoutout once a week to spread awareness of all these wonderful small local businesses that most might not know they exist!

Any little awareness and brining the community together is wonderful to see!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beach! We love the beach! We have so many local restaurants we love such as Hog Snappers in Tequesta; or Leftovers Food Shack in Jupiter.
Mini golf is Always fun; and Friday Food trucks in Abacoa.
For indoor fun for kids we would definitely go to We Rock the Spectrum in Tequesta!
And we would definitely stop by two of our favorite coffee places such as Lokomotive Ferro Via Coffee House and Oceana.
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary and Loggerhead Marina would also be on our to do list.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All my drive comes from wanting the best for my kids. Throughout my journey I have met many wonderful customers and small businesses.
If it was not for my customer truly seeing the benefits of my products I would not still be here today.
