We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashla Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashla, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I knew that I wanted to build a creative team brand that embodied my core values without my name necessarily being attached to it. I wanted my prospective team members to feel that they are a part of a team with a brand and values that they resonate with, and can also represent as their own. With the help of my fantastic marketing team, Couture Residential Advisors was born. When people see the name “Couture” they may quickly associate it with my style and love for designer fashions, but it actually is a mark of the quality of service that I seek to provide to my clients. Just as a “haute couture” or “high-fashion” garment is thought to be tailored, custom, and of superior quality it is the same idea when I am working with my clientele. The goal is to deliver higher levels of service, while setting higher standards for professionalism and communication throughout the process.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a broker associate at Compass and principal agent of Couture Residential Advisors. I’m building a small yet mighty team that is equipped to serve all clients with a luxury level of service no matter the price point. In this saturated market of residential real estate, one thing that has been mentioned many times in reviews and feedback from past clients is the level of professionalism and knowledge that was brought to the transaction. It doesn’t matter if I’m assisting a first-time homebuyer or working with a seasoned seller who is trading a multi-million dollar listing. They all get the same quality time and attention. Realtors all have different experiences and come from different backgrounds. I’ve studied business and earned my bachelor’s degree in Marketing.  Having a long-standing passion for both the business and real estate world.   I have always had a desire to be just what you see today- an entrepreneur and a business owner.   Buying my first property at the age of 24 ignited my obsession with the world of real estate. I can remember negotiating my contract when I was submitting offers and thinking to myself “why am I not doing this?”  Having this experience, I am able to keep a cool head and navigate my deals to the closing table while working with all parties involved along the way.

I’m still very early in my journey, yet I’ve learned many lessons on determination, patience, persistence, and my favorite consistency. As the great Aristotle once said “We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then, is not an act, but a habit”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely spend a couple of days in each county so that I can properly highlight the true versatility and culture of the South Florida area.  Starting with Palm Beach County of course! I’d begin the tour by visiting Palm Beach Island to stroll along Worth Avenue and stop by the historic Colony Hotel.  After leaving the island, I’d head over to West Palm and have lunch at Restoration Hardware.  From there, we’d have to head to my hometown, Delray Beach and check into the all new Ray Hotel in Pineapple Grove.   The Ray has an awesome rooftop- Rosewater and two great restaurants Akira Back and Ember Grill.  For a nightcap, we’d walk over to Honey and dance the night away.   After spending the next day exploring the Ave and our pristine beaches it would be time to head down south to Fort Lauderdale.   Las Olas is most known for the nightlife, so we would have to check out Eddie V’s for a great dinner and finish off the night at Sparrow inside of Dalmar Hotel.  Fort Lauderdale’s Beach is actually one of my favorites because it offers the feeling of being on South Beach with a much smaller crowd. Finally, it would be time for Miami! While in the 305,  I’d orchestrate a spa day at Lapis at the Fountainbleu or the Tierra Santa at Faena Hotel , and just spend the day perusing all the areas of South Beach. We’d stop by the world famous Ocean Drive and see the Versace Mansion, sight see on Collins and check out the Lincoln Road Mall.  It’s not Miami without a day on the water so I’d have to charter a boat for the second half of the day as that is the best way to explore the bay, coastal areas, and the amazing high rise buildings. It’s beautiful during the day and at night.   For the finale, we would end Kimpton’s Epic Hotel in Brickell.  There’s so many great places to have dinner and hang out in Brickell but the cool thing about Epic is that we could stay in our hotel if we didn’t want to go back out!  This property is situated right on the water and has an amazing rooftop bar Area 31 on the 16th floor and Zuma on the main.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my parents. My dad who recently transitioned and my amazing mother. Growing up and watching my mom I always knew that it is possible to have both a successful career and create a household and family life that you can be proud of.  Both of my parents worked hard to provide for me, and were always adamant about higher education. If I didn’t have their support, and encouragement along the way I don’t know where I’d be today.
