We had the good fortune of connecting with Cartia Anselme and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cartia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
What was your thought process behind starting your own business? In 2020 after being laid off from my corporate job of 7 years I had to figure something out. After receiving my notary in April 2020 I quickly dived into learning how to repair credit, with no advice or any direction. I quickly recognized a heavy struggle amongst our community during that time. After a few free clients and success I started marketing to provide my services.

Do you have a budget? How do you think about your personal finances and how do you make lifestyle and spending decisions?
Yes. I had to create a budget for myself to better sustain my finances. I started cut out add-ons of leisure and cancelled them lol. I laid out all my bills that allowed to pay up annually and paid them up for 12 months. That allowed me not worry about monthly expenses that was freed up for the next 11 months one of the best financial move I’ve made.

Risk taking: how do you think about risk, what role has taking risks played in your life/career?
When I think of risk I analyze and gather data. Make an assessment of my gains and losses. And then compare what other options I have. Taking risks have allowed me to face challenges head on and create new ways that can allow me to somewhat predict what to look forward too.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

As a real estate planner my goal is to serve my community with generational wealth by creating new strategizes and methods with disposable income. When I started on this journey in financial services I began feeling like I’m walking in my purpose. In late 2020 I met with my agent to discuss financial planning after closing business I asked her if I wanted to do this what did I need to do. She held my hand and I got licensed as a life insurance agent in 2021. In my career I fell in love with the culture I truly felt this is where I needed to be my whole life. Every family I was able to help to get life insurance gave me a peace of mind I truly felt I was serving my community the way I always wanted too. In late 2021 I started thinking what else could I do to help my community secure wealth. I then started studying for my real estate license. With so many different estate planning products I saw that there’s an actually policy that provides mortgage protection; that pushed me even further to get my real estate license. Within two weeks of starting school I took the most devastating loss in my life, I loss my aunt with her battle to cancer. Having to take a halt in my real estate studies after losing my aunt a week after starting school it devasted me so bad I forced myself into therapy which was the best decision I could’ve made for myself. While in therapy four months later I registered into school and pushed myself because I knew she wasn’t happy with me quitting one of my purposeful moves of my life. I buckled down and dedicated myself and became licensed in July. That accomplishment made me feel so complete and I just felt she was so proud of me. It wasn’t easy, battling depression feeling angry about so many things that was beyond my control. I began to assess myself to think about the happy times and I just always kept a memory of her smiling every-time. What I can extend to the world is focus on your passion it’s the wealth you will obtain. Dedicate your life trusting God because God is faithful. For my brand ARC Property Solution I would tell anyone “Don’t wait. Just start. Don’t calculate time.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
