We had the good fortune of connecting with Diann Tigner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diann, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, Mental health and people in a homeless state have always been dear to my heart. Partly because I have experienced both first hand, personally and with family members. I often see how mental health awareness is over looked in the Black community, even though I do see it becoming more normalized, we still have a long way to go. The Hidden Angels touches on these issues by providing resources, education and one day we hope to grow into providing skills training through a transition home to those individuals who are currently homeless and living with mental illness. So often I see individuals given a home, job, clothes and things but not taught the necessary skills to keep these things up so it becomes a cycle. I hope to break that cycle. I also own D’Lux Beauty. Its a beauty site that Ive build for “affordable luxury”. Everybody wants the luxury but not for the prices so I provide That luxury hair, lashes and lippie for the everyday girl wanting to look like luxury because i have been in her place.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
On top of my organization and business, I am also a Care Coordinator at a mental health center and in my masters program for Social Work. Honestly every move I have made was to educate and better myself for The Hidden Angels. It has been difficult and somedays I ask myself is it all worth it and I have to convince myself that it is. God truly holds me steady. Some things that I have learned on this journey are its okay to slow down and take a break. Look at all you’ve done and appreciate how far you’ve come. Your mental health is sooo important so take care of it because you cant pour from an empty cup. Lastly, its okay to ask for help. Its okay to need help, and its okay to embrace the help. What I would want people to know absolutely about my brand is that this is my passion, I want to touch the world with my organization The Hidden Angels. We are honestly all hidden angels in some way whether we are the helper or the person receiving the blessing and thats how I want the world to see itself and relate to my organization.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Well I just moved to Dallas and I am still getting accustomed to the area. It is so much to do here but I do miss the beach back home ! Las Olas was a favorite place. China Mans eggrolls are bomb and a must when I come home ! I dont know its so many options when you’re in Florida !

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many people who support me. i am so blessed & favored in that area. First & foremost God deserves all of the glory for where I am but here on earth I would have to say my bestfriend Julie and sister Phalashia. These too powerful women have been here through every crazy far fetched idea and the long crying nights. There honesty and push is truly the reason both of my businesses are thriving. I can never say Ive done this alone. I have a strong team behind me.
