We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Summers – Bland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Wow, work life balance.. that’s a big one! Funny you ask that question because if you would have asked me this question even 6 months ago, my answer would be completely different. One thing I have realized over the years as a serial entrepreneur is that I constantly was finding myself wired and tired. It wasn’t until a few months ago I really started to hone in on my self care routine. Morning and evening routines prime you for success. They help you achieve more, think clearly, and do work that actually matters. They keep you from stumbling through your day and make sure you get the most important things done. All it takes is a bit of discipline, along with routines that will set you up for success. I realized if I wanted to be able to help others, I needed to make sure to help myself first. I can honestly say between my morning and evening routine, as well as implementing healthy boundaries, I am now finding myself being able to give more to others without feeling so easily drained! Im sure you’re wondering what this magical “morning and evening” routine may look like, since I’m claiming it to be the game changer in my overall work life balance performance! A peak at a day in the life… Morning Routine – read 3-5 pages upon awakening – gel eye mask / skincare – devotional / bible study / prayer – 8oz of water – well rounded plant based breakfast – morning greens balance drink – 1 mile walk / or workout Evening Routine – 10 minutes of stretch / yoga – evening skincare routine – inner calm + herbal tea – gratitude journal – prayer “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I have worked very hard to put our heads together to form a company that offers the consumer something a cut above the rest. We pride ourselves on providing an abundance of educational resources and that extra personal touch of truly treating every single individual we come in contact with a 5 star experience. We both have agreed after working with previous coaches in the past, we always felt things were very cookie cutter and impersonal, so we wanted to make sure we brought exactly the complete opposite style of experience. With over 500+ clients in the last 2 years, we’ve realized we can only give so much “personal” experience. Which leads me to what our biggest challenge has been and that would be how to grow. You can only offer and give so much of that individualized “personalized” coaching. It about literally a year ago to this month that we finding ourselves running into this crossroad. We decided to start a 40 day prayer challenge and leave it in Gods hands. We knew there was only so much we could do. Shortly after that prayer challenge finished, my husband woke up to a large, lengthy, business proposal in regards to opening a gym in the midwest in my husbands hometown. This was truly an answered GOD SIZED prayer we didn’t even know we were praying for. It was the answer to our growth. To reaching more individuals through a more personalized route, literally. We were being given the opportunity to build out the facility from a warehouse shell all the way to customizing that customer experience when it came to our members & group fitness classes. We now have been relocated in Pana, IL from Tampa, FL for 9 months now! Times flies when you love what you do for a “living”. What have we learned? To literally trust God in ALL things! Life is full of situations where you are faced with uncertainty. And even though you have goals you want to achieve, this fear of the unknown can potentially hold you back from following your dreams. Fear can make you pass on a job offer because it means moving away from the people you grew up with or it can prevent you from having a much-needed surgery because you can’t be 100% sure of the outcome. When you let fear hold you back, you can stunt your personal growth.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gosh, I feel like I could be here all day working on that list! HAHA! However, there is definitely someone who comes straight to the forefront of my mind and that would be my good friend, mentor, and colleague Jessica Stadler. She is the owner of Ignite and Empower Masterminds, motivational speaker, and business performance coach. Her goal is to bring together ambitious female entrepreneurs & give them the tools to grow and scale their businesses. I can truly testify from the bottom of my heart, she does exactly that AND then some! She has helped me breakthrough mental barriers that I never realized existed, resulting in leveling up my mindset, and scaling my business more effortlessly. I wouldn’t be where I am at mentally today without her! She has a knack for helping people break through fears, limiting beliefs, and igniting that self empowerment we as women truly long for in life, all while sharing her incredible community of women entrepreneurs far and wide!
