We had the good fortune of connecting with Laimis Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laimis, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I believe taking risks exposes the greatness within you. I would not be where I am at today if I had not taken the risk and opportunity of agreeing to design flowers arrangements for a world known luxury watch brand (A. Lange & Sohne) with zero knowledge in the business. Taking this risk allowed me to later and currently work with such brands as IWC Schaffhausen, Aqquazzura, Piaget and Balmain.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. 
I believe what sets Matty’s Flower Design apart is the chic, clean and luxurious look we implement in our work while having the ability to execute our clients’ desired styles without losing our individuality.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have been living in Miami for 13 yrs so I definitely know the city quite well. I would say I have a few favorite restaurants and bars you cannot miss if you are in Miami. Such as Cipriani for the best Risotto “Alla Primavera”, Cafe La Trova for the BEST guava mojito, lemon drop martini & Cuban vibe, Sugar at the EAST Hotel for the best bar view in Miami and Lung Yai Thai Tapas for most delicious Thai food in Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a long list of people I’m eternally grateful for, people who have given me the opportunity and have provided the help and tools to get where only effort and latent would’ve not gotten you that fast. First of all, I want to thank my friend David Fernandez as he was the first person who believed I could do this (even before myself) and introduced me to my first job as a flower designer. Daphne Angulo for opening the doors to a Richemont Group brand as a rookie without any experience. As well as to all the GREAT boutiques managers I work with (Julie Ryan, Jonathan Cepeda, Pernilla Sandor and Krizia Senra) “You guys made my dreams come true when you decided to give me a chance”. Also, to all my clients who choose Matty’s to make their loved ones happier, to all my friends and family members who encourage me and use social media to advertise my business all the time & last but not least, to my mother and sister “so much of this would not be possible if I did not have your 200% support, LAS ADORO”.
