We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We are disrupting the status quo and hair industry, with our water based hydrating products and we teach Hydration so customers can rethink what the industry is doing. The current industry product are leaving customer’s hair dry, brittle, frizzy, unruly and lacking luster which is unhealthy. We have experienced the unhealthy side with the chemical relaxers and keratin treatment resulting in cancer.

Our community and social outreach has been ongoing since 2012, we give free demos for back to school, hair events, and community at large; more recently, we decided to do an XPO H2O Expo transformation of Mind, Body, and Spirit for the Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach County area. The expo will be at the Broward County Convention Center (BCC), June 3 and 4, with Casanova Beauty and support of Transmedia of Boca Raton.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career started as a cadet with the Houston Police Department, which helped to shape my desire to be my very best version of myself, a service to help others, finding the facts in cases, and being leader in the community in which I serve. I lead the citizens on patrol as a sergeant (HPD) 189 neighborhoods with people from all walks of life, culture, and education. My goal is to be good at organizing the community for safety and teach them to be the eyes and ears of the department.

What sets me apart is my deep compassion for the victims in a given situation. That, victim could be me, walking a mile in their shoes, but knowing what separates us is a strong belief in GOD and a continued strive for a better me.

At age 42, starting with Palm Beach County Sheriff, a start over at that age, then becoming the first African-American female Law Enforcement Training (firearm, defensive tactics, first aid CPR, and driving) Instructor. Next to the first African-American female sergeant in Law Enforcement with PBSO (WPTV interview with Tania Rogers) and completing my Masters degree, was huge excitement as well as very proud to represent other women in law enforcement as a leader.

Having a solid foundation, grounded in faith, and a commitment to service my community helped me in my profession. No! It was not easy, perfecting my shooting skills at the Rogers Shooting School in Georgia. Establishing competency to shoot with precision, teach others, and demonstrate in front of my male counterparts as their instructor. The level of respect would come with my ability to perform with precision. The streets were challenging with every day new situations, conflicts to resolve, crimes to solve, and reporting the facts for court. While assisting the victim, finding a safe place for victim and helping them navigate through a tough situation.

Because of my service orientation and commitment to help others, you do what is needed in the moment, you look outside of yourself and into the situation, not get emotional and focus on the facts. Your real challenge is to help the victim. Lesson was to be there for others, but take time for yourself. keep your own health up, have a positive mental attitude and safety, safety, safety. Be alert, Be aware of your surroundings, and be kind to others.

I think my foundation to be of service to others and the community set the pace for XPO H2O Hair Care, creating my own product at age 14, researching hair in 1992 as I released relaxers, Salon owner in 2003 was a sergeant. 2005 Cosmetologist to current, and 2012 creating a product line that disrupted the hair industry. Rebranded in 2020 to improve on our water-based formulation is amazing and be are proud. Researching to 1788, when we first started using palm oil and shea butter on natural hair as slaves, to case studies that documented the difference when customers stop using oils, butters, and cream type product with petroleum base. It’s revolutionary to the current industry as natural hair is here to stay.

XPO H2O Hair Care (means exposing water – XPO H2O or exposing hydration). Natural hair wants water, which gives it balance. Science teaches oil and water do not mix, therefore it will not mix on the hair. Industry uses petroleum/oils in 98% of all products, which. Is not good, it blocks water penetration to the cortex of the hair. It leaves a film or build up on the hair, which makes the hair dehydrated (dry, brittle, brassy, wiry, and frizzy. (Hydrate the hair with water-based products).

Healthy hair starts with hydration, juice, plump, waterlogged curls are beautiful, and we have the research to prove it. Liquid density is the molecular structure of water that is small enough to penetrate wood, iron, or concrete, but the molecule structure of oil is too large, it will never penetrate the hair, only coat, seal, and cause build up. The build up takes months to remove by detoxing and clarifying the hair until the water can enter the hair shaft, then the water to penetrate to the cortex of the hair.

Our brand loves the glow of XPO H2O, having fun with natural hair, letting men and women know that their struggle can be so much easier with just water, but they must be a label reader and use only water based products.
We address the root cause by eliminating brittleness, dryness, frizziness, and unmanageable natural hair; through an innovative hydration process and water-locking products.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start at the shopping district in Miami on 5th and 20th street to make sure they have swim suits and lounge clothes, Day 2, South Beach for fun and the evening would be dining at one of the local restaurants on South Beach. Day 3, we are at Los Olas in Broward County and Ft. Lauderdale Beach as we take a water taxi down the Intercoastal and dining at Margaritaville.
Day 4, nightlife would be Harrah then the Hardrock for a show, gaming, and dinner.
Day 5, would be at McAuthur Park, where we would walk across the intercostal because the view is spectacular and end up on Singer Island for music, food, and fun.
Day 6, rest and pack to return home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My first gratitude is to the supreme authority over my life (GOD). He is the author of my faith and life. Annie Mae Pope for believing and praying for the success of the water-based product and a frequent user and supporter. Joyce Pope – retired nurse, who has given unconditional support that keeps me in touch with the research, case studies and medical requirements. My brother Reginald and Zachary Pope, who both early in life gathered mistletoe when I created my first hair product. Other friends and family encouraged, purchasing the product, and giving first hand results that were extraordinary.
