We had the good fortune of connecting with Aadya, Harshita, And Ayushi— From A Simple Idea To A Global Movement: How Three Girls Built Empowerfly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aadya, Harshita, and Ayushi—, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
One big habit that’s helped us is showing up, even when things feel messy or uncertain. We didn’t always have everything figured out (we still don’t!), but we kept showing up with heart.

And honestly? Keeping a little google doc full of random ideas. Some turned into full-blown projects, others were just funny thoughts, but giving ourselves permission to dream and capture those ideas made a huge difference.

Oh, and asking for help and guidance, it’s one of the most powerful habits we’ve built.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Thanks so much for asking! At Empowerfly, we’re all about empowering young girls to find their voice, step into leadership, and realize that their dreams are not only valid, they’re necessary. What sets us apart is that we’re youth-led, meaning the very people we serve are the ones driving the mission forward. We understand firsthand the challenges young girls face, and we create spaces where they can grow, lead, and support each other globally.

We’re especially proud of how Empowerfly has grown from just three girls with an idea into a global nonprofit impacting thousands across more than 35 countries. It hasn’t been easy. There were moments of doubt, endless learning curves, and plenty of late nights trying to figure out everything from partnerships to program design. But each challenge taught us resilience and the power of community.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that leadership isn’t about perfection: it’s about showing up, being authentic, asking for help, and lifting others as you climb. We want the world to know that Empowerfly isn’t just an organization, it’s a movement built on trust, passion, and a belief that when girls support girls, incredible things happen.

Our story is proof that no matter your age or background, you can create real change. And we hope that inspires others to start something, too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start with the Ice Cream Museum and Miami Beach for sun and fun. We’d explore Wynwood Walls’ street art, eat tacos at Coyo Taco, and enjoy live music at Lagniappe. A day trip to the Everglades for an airboat tour is a must, plus Cuban food in Little Havana. We’d visit the Pérez Art Museum, relax at Key Biscayne beach, and check out the Frost Science Museum. For good eats, We’d take them to Joe’s Stone Crab, Versailles, and Big Pink for brunch. Miami’s mix of culture, art, and beaches makes every day unforgettable.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh, there are so many people and moments that deserve this shoutout but if we had to choose, we’d dedicate it to all the people who believed in us before we fully believed in ourselves.

To our parents, who let us dream big, mess up, and try again. To the incredible women who’ve shared their stories with us like Elise Pham, Ann Liang, and the Amoeba Sisters, for showing us that leadership can look like creativity, softness, and strength all at once. To our mentors and teammates who jumped into this vision with open hearts. And especially to the girls in our programs, watching them grow, lead, and light up rooms has inspired us to keep going.
