We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Aguil Mallea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrian, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Since I was 16, I’ve been creating digital images. I started with some image editing software, then moved on to Photoshop, and later used 3D software (Cinema 4D). I believe that everyone has a creative side, and I was able to discover and nurture mine through the years. I’ve enjoyed it a lot from the beginning.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What I like about some of my art pieces and the process involved is that I realise why I made certain decisions after I finish them and contemplate them. So this understanding could happen to me after several hours or even months of completing the artwork when I figure out why I did this or that, and I think that’s amazing and give me some evidence that I’m putting all my heart and soul into it.
I aim to create contemplative art that people can appreciate for a few moments. I want my art to give viewers something back, whether it be a particular thought or a soothing feeling.
I’ve spent a lot of time and effort levelling up my skills over the years, and while it’s been a rewarding journey, I’ve learned that taking breaks and enjoying other activities is essential. After all, it helps keep things fresh when I return to my studio.
It all started with playing around with some image creation software. And that’s what I try to keep doing – just playing and having fun with projects.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m now living in Sydney, a fantastic city full of activities. If friends visit, I will take them to Bondi beach, a stunning beach 10 minutes away from the CBD. There are a lot of great beaches and lookouts surrounded by nature, like Palm Beach or even the Sydney Tower in the middle of the CBD for the city lovers. I’d love to take them to the Blue Mountains, a national park 1 hour away from the city with amazing views. We should check out the Opera House, and if possible, see a band or concert there; it sounds incredible!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the early years of my journey in creating artworks, I was primarily self-taught, trial and error. However, in 2016 when I started using Cinema 4D to create 3D artworks, I was paying attention to the works of Ezequiel Pini and Andrés Reisinger. They were constantly raising the bar in every project. Furthermore, both Argentinians live abroad, inspiring me to travel and work in other countries. Moreover, I owe a shout-out to the Internet, which was a massive supporter since it allowed me to check online tutorials when needed. And, of course, my parents paid for all that initially. Finally, I would like to give a big shout-out to Andrés Arozena and Nicolas Damore. They helped me step up and grow professionally in different career stages.
