We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Falcon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think taking risks is one of the key values of an entrepreneur.. You have to take risks in order to have a successful business. You always win by taking risks because if it works, you got it! and if not, you learn from it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was inspired to create my business by my little Yorkie “Carlotta” who passed away three months ago… So, now she inspires me in a different way…

I am from Mexico city, I love colors, folklore and Frida Kahlo. So all of them are part of the inspiration of my clothes.

Lots of challenges are happening in these days, definitely is not easy having big competitors, and that keeps me busy! Create new and originals designs & products ( For example this year, not having my Carlotta for Day of the Dead was really difficult so I understood all those people who have lost their pets! It’s something terrible! so, I created the “Dog Nichos”(Mexican memorials) and the Dog altars. Actually I like to donate some of them during the year, as part of my social cause), and instead of having events I’ll be doing more virtual workshops (We had one last summer and it was a blast!!).

Güeyita is a Mexican dog boutique. So, always will have a Mexican inspiration.

We have our social cause @losmilagritosdegueyita where 5% of our sales go to a dog or shelter in need.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely the beach! We live in Miami so let’s go to have fun at the beach!

We’ll go to see our wonderful area of Miami Design District and have lunch in some of the cool restaurants of the area like “St Roch Market”. We’ll visit Wynwood and take a look at its fabulous walls and stores.

We’ll go to a shopping mall like Aventura or Brickell City center and we’ll Visit some museums like the Bass Museum, or PAM. ( there we’ll take a fresh cocktail with a great view).

I love to go biking with my friends and have breakfast at Green street, in Coconut Grove, my favorite neighborhood!

Finally We’ll take a yoga class (I’m a yogi too) maybe at Aguacate Sanctuary and after class, we’ll have a veggie breakfast.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First my husband who believed in me and supported my ideas now and in the time when I decided to create Güeyita and big part of my success is thanks to the unconditional support of my Graphic designer who always understands all my needs and many times read my mind about the needed design when I have a project or idea.

To all the people who works with me from  artisans of different regions in Mexico, Claudia my main seamstress and to all the small businesses in Mexico who creates adorable and unique dog clothes and accessories.
