Meet Adryana Marroquín | Actress, Singer-songwritter and Director of Sello Jueves Music.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adryana Marroquín and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adryana, what inspires you?
I am mostly inspired by authenticity and honesty. The power of vulnerability impresses me every time. Also, something that really inspires me is people who never define themselves as one thing or another, people who dare to become someone new in every task they begin and that dare to question what they “are”.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the co creator and co director of the independent female music label “Jueves Music” together with the Singer-songwriter Leiden. For more than 10 years, both of us have been dedicated independent singer-songwriters and during the pandemic we were forced out of the stage. This crisis, brought the gift of giving us time to reflect about the industry, where we were at and to dedicate time to start a music label created by women musicians, for women musicians.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her to eat some good pastries around the corner of my house, to begin with. Definitely to one of the intimate sessions from our label on Thursdays. I would take her to eat some good mole.
We would spend some time in my house drinking good wine and exchanging the latest music discoveries and talking. Then we could go dance some salsa at “Barba Azul”.
During one of the mornings we could go to the Museum Anahuacalli and then go to the UNAM to hang around walking by the espacio escultórico, lie there in the grass and above the structures, contemplate the sky, the volcanos around and feel some of the nicest weather in Mexico City. If there is time left, we could enter UNIVERSUM and have a nice meal at Azul y Oro.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Right now, Leiden my associate deserves a big mention in my story as she has been brave enough to walk this path with me.
