We had the good fortune of connecting with Aida Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aida, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a Mom to a twelve year old, the most important thing I have done to impact my daughter, is to show her that anything is possible. To work hard, but play harder. The most important aspect of my work is to be at home most of the time so that I can be present in my child’s life. I have been very fortunate that I get to work from home since 2009, it has definitely been a blessing because I get the perks of actually being at all of the events my daughter does.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The PR business has changed so much in the past 5 years, I have always kept up with the evolving of Public Relations. I am most proud of being respected by everyone I have worked with. My resilience, dedication, professionalism has really shaped me to who I am today. What puts me apart from a the rest is my optimism and loyalty, apart from being bilingual (English/Spanish) the path I have paved to get to where I am today has been sometimes tough and other times easy. I have a quote that I like to use and that is “If you believe it is meant to be, and everything flows, then you are where you need to be.” I am always open and willing to create new partnerships, working with worldwide known brands, has really helped me to be multifaceted and what I love most about being a PR pro is that I get to meet so many interesting people along the way. Working with amazing teams has also helped me to understand what different personalities can bring to the table. I am a soloPReneur and I love being able to work from home and traveling the country is my passion.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Miami/Ft Lauderdale for the past 21 years has been a wonderful experience. If you’re visiting Miami, you don’t want to miss the following: South Beach, Lincoln Road, Wynwood, Brickell, Design District, Calle 8 and Doral.
First day I would take you to South Beach to visit Ocean Drive, have brunch at Bacon Bitch, then walking the food off on the beach. For dinner we can walk to Lincoln Road and eat at the iconic Casa Tua restaurant.
For the next day I would take you to breakfast in Wynwood at Morgan’s restaurant for the best chicken waffle sandwich. Touring all of Wynwood will inspire your creativity and then we would go to the Design District where fashion meets eclectic living.
Calle 8 is a must for the culture, the food and the people. Cafe cubano, dominos and a lot of walking is what is in store. Anyone who visits Miami should definitely try Versailles Cuban food.
Then Doral Place is really a modern take on Miami, with lots of restaurants, shopping and beautiful people.
Brickell place is also a great spot to visit, it’s like NY takes over, my favorite is Cantina la Veinte.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family, husband, daughter, colleagues and friends that have always supported me along the way.
