We had the good fortune of connecting with Aileen Abella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aileen, how do you think about risk?
The biggest risk a person can take is to do nothing. That definitely resonate with me as the biggest risk I’ve taken professionally has paid off the biggest dividends. One of the hardest things I’ve had to do in business is to believe in myself. It was a huge step to strike out on my own and start my own business 9 years ago– I didn’t have a business plan, vision board or even long-term goals. I had interviewed with a multinational and they came back to offer me a contract. I took a deep breath and questioned why I couldn’t trust myself to do what they saw as potential. So I took the plunge and the rest is, as they say, history.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A2 Media is a PR agency based in Miami that represents artists, celebrities and influencers, as well as brands in the Hispanic market with an integrated marketing approach. What I don’t do: Spray and pray. It’s called media relations for a reason and I do enjoy cultivating relationships with media and brands. I’m full of ideas and dislike cookie cutter templates. I bring a whole bunch of creativity to the table and I’m always in search of an “aha” moment. What do I like to do? When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, I really enjoy writing, telling a story and answering the “so what?”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anyone who visits me in Miami has one goal: go to the beach! A must is to touch the ocean, so the first thing on the itinerary is always to run toes through the sand and touch the water. Of course everyone always asks me to visit Michi’s in Doral, because they see it sprayed all over my social media and it’s a must for any visit to Miami. Everything looks a bit different now since quarantine so just trying to keep things tight with immediate family and order takeout for special occasions.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As corny and cheesy as it may sound, my husband is my biggest hype man. The agency bears my name, but he deserves credit as IT support, creative director, finance manager and can’t forget psychologist when I’m about to lose it!
