Meet Albert Hern | Albert Hern

We had the good fortune of connecting with Albert Hern and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Albert, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My father was originally in the dental industry, creating dental pieces. One day he tried to craft a gift for my mother (a ring) and he found out that the principles of what he used to do in odontology were really
similar to jewelry. He worked for important people but never for himself, so I thought that as a family
why wouldn’t we have a family business where he can show to the world his passion for jewelry?
Inspired by my mom, a happy and passionate woman who liked to wear jewelry every day, we wanted
to provide more color and shine to this world. Jewelry is a way to let each individual show their
personality in every outfit and carry their special memories through meaningful jewels.
He was the heart and I was the energy.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My father Alberto Hernandez, was in the dentistry industry in California, but he fell in love with the jewelry business.
Before becoming a brand he worked as a crafter for relevant people and brands such as Prince Dimitri, Princess Marie Chantal Miller, Woody Allen, Liza Minelli among others.
In 1994 I decided to start a company with him as Burma Jewellers, crafting and selling their colorful pieces under his own name to later become Albert Hern registered trademark in the USA.
Albert Hern is a family business created to empower womens in their everyday style with meaningful and long lasting pieces. Made to express who they are, what they like or just for carrying the important moments.
After the death of Alberto Hernandez Father, Albert Hern remains as a familiar company managed by me maintaining his legacy.
Every piece is made with a lot of love to honor those who have entrusted the brand with a little piece of their own stories of love, commitment and friendship. It is only through dedication and love for our work that we can achieve art and become a part of eternal memories in people’s lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I enjoy the little things in my life that make me happy and from that I seek to relive them. Spending more time with my family, taking an interest in how things are going in each of my kids and my wife’s lives, taking my kids to a new interesting place, and having a glass of wine once in a while to engage in a good chat with the love of my life are the activities that bring me the most joy. No matter where we go, as soon as I’m with my family I enjoy it.
But if I have to choose a place it would be in front of the beach, in a long chair, with a drink and my family having fun or resting with me. It’s the reason why we live in Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
