We had the good fortune of connecting with Alecia Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alecia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I want to consider my story as her story. Simple because of the challenges that I have dealt with, many women have faced. The difference is how they handled it. Years back, I decided to leave a marriage that no longer served me well. As a single mother of two incredible children, I knew I had to do more which motivated me to start my own business. After all, my children deserved more! I wanted to ensure that I created significant opportunities and build generational wealth for my children. Not only that, I moved out of my home and knew we needed somewhere new to call home. I knew I needed a home, but I did not want to get caught up in the cycle of renting and having to move each time my lease expired. I wanted to create consistency and a more stable situation for my children. I began to research more into homeownership and drew a particular interest in real estate. HGTV started to become my favorite station, and I surrounded myself with real estate in every way possible. At the time, I worked a full-time job, and I went back to finish my degree at Florida Atlantic University. Each time I got a holiday break from school, I used it to attend real estate school and study for the real estate state exam. The second form of income was a plus to my newfound love of real estate. I am her to provide the understanding of homeownership and help break generational cycles.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in South Florida’s competitive housing market, providing each of my clients with an excellent and memorable process into homeownership. I’m known for my outstanding communication and negotiation skills. I also acquire the knowledge necessary for my clients to experience a smooth purchasing, selling, and leasing process. What makes me different and genuinely outstanding compared to other realtors is that I am generous with homeownership information, and I treat all my clients equally, no matter their budget. I do not turn any clients away, whether it is leasing or buying. Never underestimate a renter because they may one day become a buyer. I see this career choice as more than just the money but more as a great way to build positive relationships, educate my community and act on my passion for breaking the cycles.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fort Lauderdale can definitely offer you some great memories. Some of my favorite pass times in the city include sushi at the Posh Lounge, drinks at the Roof Top, @1WLO, and Del Mar hotel’s sparrow while enjoying a sky-high view of the city. Also, a nice weekend brunch at Jets Runway Cafe, The Wharf, or Shooter’s Waterfront Restaurant. To anyone who may visit our city, remember that we live where you vacay. The beach should be on the top of your to-do list; For water sport activities, I would recommend my best friend, Corey Smith. Of course, we must include some shopping while visiting Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale is full of some great malls(Galleria, Sawgrass, Las Olas stip). For nightlife festivities, I would highly recommend Downtown Las Olas Blvd. Dining at Yolo and dancing the night away at one of the many clubs on the strips.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God for sure & most importantly, my children. God has kept me through so many scenarios in which my faith was smaller than a mustard seed. This process has strengthened my faith. My children are my biggest motivation; So shoutout to my babies, Tiyana & Mekhi. Many people have individually helped me in my process and I would like to shout out them out as a whole as well. I am sending love & light to each one of you individually. You know who you are because I have given you all your flowers of appreciation.
