We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleia Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aleia, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
That moment when you realize your 9-5 isn’t cutting anymore. I was so unhappy at my full time job because I already found my passion in content creation. Knowing that it’s time to switch lanes or directions contributed to my success. You have to have the will power to jump and take a risk!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a natural hair content creator, meaning I provide beginner friendly tips, advice, tutorials and demos on how to care for your natural hair. I have a degree in Broadcast Communications and Marketing, my degree helped me sharpen my skills behind the camera, thus being able to create high quality and engaging content.

I am most proud of hitting my goals I set for myself. Remember any accomplishments should always be celebrated, you work way to hard not to.

I always had really long thick hair, people would ask me for help all the time with their hair. It was my calling to create a YouTube channel to help those with healthy hair growth. My platforms have now expanded to Instagram and Tik Tok also.

The best way to over come challenges is to put your head down and go. I realized that you make up these scenarios in your head and when you actually go through the process it’s not as hard as you think. With practices your skills will sharpen.

The biggest lesson I learn from being a small Natural Hair Content Creator is don’t compare yourself or your numbers to anyone else. Instead, compare your data from month to month to see your growth. I create my own social media audit document, so each month I can go back and see how far I am coming along and if I am on track to hit my goals.

I want everyone to remember my name, AsAlwaysAleia. I am different special and unique, God put me on this Earth for a reason.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Unfortunately, I don’t get out as much as I would like. I still work full time at my day job while juggling content creation by night. Later this year I plan to transition into a full time influencer, I am looking forward to all the time I’ll gain back and be able to explore my own city a little more. All work is and no play is no fun, good things are coming later this year.
