Meet Alejandra Dorado | Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Dorado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alejandra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is the graphic design business I built together with my dad. It’s been a journey of about five years, and what started as a shared passion slowly turned into a real company — one that reflects our growth, creativity, and dedication.
We’ve spent countless hours learning, experimenting, and refining our skills. It hasn’t always been easy, but working side by side, we pushed each other to improve and stay committed. Every project we’ve delivered carries a piece of our story, a blend of both our strengths, and a deep sense of teamwork and trust.
This experience taught me not only about design, but also about resilience, leadership, and how powerful collaboration can be — especially when it’s rooted in something personal. Building this business with my dad is something I’ll always be proud of, both professionally and personally.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is the heart behind everything I do. I’m not just building a business — I’m building a story, a message, and a space where creativity meets emotional connection. My graphic design brand was born from a dream I shared with my dad. Together, over the past five years, we’ve poured our time, passion, and energy into learning, evolving, and growing not just as creatives, but as a team.
I’m most proud of the fact that we started from zero — no big budget, no formal training, just the will to keep going. It definitely wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, burnout, and learning curves that felt overwhelming. But what kept me going was the belief that every step, even the hard ones, was shaping my strength and purpose. My dad taught me that — to keep pushing, to rise again, and to always lead with integrity and resilience.
Professionally, I got to where I am through consistency, vulnerability, and the decision to show up even when I felt scared. I’ve learned that progress is rarely perfect, that community matters more than competition, and that your story is your superpower.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s not just about design — it’s about connection. Whether I’m creating a logo, a journal, or a piece of content, my goal is to make people feel something. To remind them that they’re not alone, that growth is possible, and that beauty can be found in simplicity, in softness, and in authenticity.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Miami for a week, I’d make sure every day was filled with sunshine, flavor, and a little adventure — just like this city! 🌞
We’d kick off with a chill beach day in South Beach, maybe starting with brunch at Nikki Beach or a cozy breakfast at Under the Mango Tree (super cute and healthy). After some sun and ocean time, we’d walk around Ocean Drive, grab a cafecito, and catch golden hour vibes at The Betsy rooftop.
For something cultural, I’d take them to Wynwood Walls — the murals are stunning, and there are so many great spots to eat like KUSH or Coyo Taco. At night, we’d dance a little at TuCandela or enjoy a mojito in Ball & Chain in Little Havana.
We’d explore Downtown and Brickell too — maybe lunch at B Bistro, then cocktails at Sugar Rooftop Bar. One day would be for a boat day or a jet ski tour to see the city from the water (and feel the Miami energy al 100%).
Another must is Vizcaya Museum & Gardens — it’s peaceful, beautiful, and feels like a movie set. We’d also have a night for some spiritual or creative recharge — maybe a sound bath or a sunset picnic at South Pointe Park with a journal and good music.
For food, I’d take them to Mandolin Aegean Bistro (so aesthetic and delicious), Planta for a plant-based experience, and for a casual treat, Versailles for Cuban classics or La Sandwicherie for a perfect late-night bite.
Honestly, what makes Miami special isn’t just the places — it’s the people. The energy, the diversity, the passion. I’d make sure my friend feels the heart of the city through each experience. Miami is where color, culture, and connection collide — and I’d love to show them my version of it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! Some of the books that have had a huge impact on my personal growth are The Magic of Thinking Big and Think and Grow Rich. They truly helped me shift my mindset and believe in my ability to create something meaningful.
But if I had to dedicate this journey to someone, it would be my dad. He has been my greatest teacher — not just in business, but in life. He taught me how to be strong, how to keep going even when things get hard, and how to believe in myself when I doubted the most. Everything I’ve built, I owe in great part to his guidance, patience, and unwavering support.
