Meet Alejandra Garcia Munoz | Photographer & Marketing Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Garcia Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alejandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The decision to start my own business was fueled by two powerful forces. First, I had lost my job, and finding a new one was proving to be extremely challenging — especially as a migrant in the middle of a migration crisis, when opportunities were scarce. Second, photography and branding/marketing have always been my passions. I have an endless love for art, colors, and everything related to creative expression.
It came down to a choice: start something of my own or keep waiting for an opportunity that might never arrive. I chose to take the leap. I began studying and launched my journey with the only camera I owned at the time — a Nikon D3300, an entry-level model. Eventually, I had to replace it after it suffered irreparable damage.
Since then, I have committed myself to learning and improving every single day. I’ve covered events, led sessions, and steadily built a portfolio that keeps growing. I’ve been an entrepreneur at heart for as long as I can remember, and just because some ventures haven’t turned out exactly as I envisioned doesn’t mean I’m not destined to have my own company and my own success.
As I always say: “You can’t stop playing just because you’re afraid to miss.” My journey is proof that courage and persistence are the true game changers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a professional in International Relations, but I have always worked in the marketing field, particularly in all the creative processes I’ve had the opportunity to be part of. When I finished my degree in the middle of the COVID pandemic, there were no job opportunities available, I was a single mom, i started to do baking, which has always been something I’ve enjoyed. It also allowed me to have additional income, also my family hired me as the Culinary Manager for our family restaurant. That’s when I started studying gastronomic marketing, and my passion for food photography and promoting our brand grew. During that time, I worked on rebranding the family business, made adjustments to the menu, and improved its positioning on social media.
Later, I had the opportunity to work at an insurance company in the United States, and I didn’t hesitate, again in the marketing department. There, I designed social media grids and marketing strategies. I was then promoted to Contracting Specialist, and I am extremely grateful for the time I spent there because I learned so much about what I know today. I discovered that I could push myself beyond my mental limits and accomplish anything I set my mind to.
After leaving that job, I decided to open my own photography and marketing business, focusing entirely on photography.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely, I would take them to eat at Mordisco Miami, located in Doral. It’s my favorite restaurant and very special to me. The food is spectacular, and the service is amazing. Then, I would go for desserts at Bachour in Coral Gables, the best desserts, and they even have Michelin stars. To spend a pleasant afternoon walking around, with a variety of bars to choose from, I’d take them to Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, a beautiful spot where they can also take a free water taxi tour right there. And, of course, taking photos in the Design District is a must. If they’re into shopping and their budget is high, they can shop in the Design District, but if it’s a low-budget trip, they can head to Sawgrass or Dolphin Mall

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Undoubtedly, it would be to my family, especially my husband and my mom, who have been my support and my rock on this journey. They have believed in me even when I haven’t believed in myself
