We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, what do you attribute your success to?
Believe in me and being honest to myself. Always open to possibilities and not just depending on play it safe. Thinking outside the box allows us to expand our creativity and get closer to what makes us unique. It is essential to discover what we are and try not to imitate what people consider “The standard.” Listening to people is necessary to understand their vibes. I always try to “read” them. This way, my shows are an open invitation and not an imposition. Entertaining is a proposal of love for what you believe. If that makes others fall in love, I will have accomplished my task.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a DJ since I can remember… I’m a Venezuelan/American living in Miami. South Florida is very competitive on the entertainment ticket but is a place full of opportunities at the same time. Fortunately, the people have been very receptive everywhere I go. Music has inspired me to work in the entertainment industry for more than 25 years. First as stage manager, producer in Venezuela, and as a camerawoman, Video producer, and now as DJ, spinning here and there.

I’m very fortunate to combine my two passions; Storytelling and Music,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, I’ll take him/her to the beach. Most likely on a weekday. Them My list goes this way:

2. weekend Brunch at Bachour Doral (and during extended happy hour)

3. Walk by Wynwood … so many lovely spots.

4. Visit my friend Milcho  (ahí se pone buena la cosa).

5. Go to Calle 8; grab a bite at cafe la Trova, especially on Viernes Culturales.

6. Lunch at Cafe Creme Upper Buena Vista, Go to the tree and make a wish.

7. Dinner at Mandolin Aegean Bistro 8. Get a Beer at Vezasur

9. To the beach again, the Sunset is gorgeous

10. Walk by Design District.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My special shoutout is to my real followers ( I affectionately call them Meowllowers), peeps who got engaged in my shows and enjoyed my craft. But shoutout to MusiCares. They’re taking care and standing for the Music community during these difficult times. Many people in my “thanks list,” but the spotlight is for my wife Marlene, working side by side with me. She’s behind the scenes, taking pictures, doing video, and making sure that I pursue my dreams ♥️
