We had the good fortune of connecting with Alessandra Saggese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alessandra, what makes you happy? Why?
One word: Design. It is clear and simple. I like to create. The whole process of how an idea can manifest into a tangible element intrigues me. When you enter a space, and it creates a certain number of emotions is something unique that cannot be described. Imagine that you are the author of those feelings, that makes me truly joyful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The human connection and the interaction with clients that are looking to create a special and personal environment in their homes. I spend a lot of time helping them visualize their ideas and understanding their needs to showcase them in the designs I work on for them, so they can truly achieve their design goals.

My first career was Communications and I believe that all my professional experience in that area has helped me to be able to deliver a complete package to my client.

Our career is highly personal. We Designers get involved into people’s homes and assess their needs to create a harmonious and functional space. In the end, designing is another way of communicating without words.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with brunch somewhere outdoors. If they can include bootless mimosas even better!

Your first day in Miami you must go to the beach, probably around Sunny Isles area. Have a nice drive all over Biscayne Blvd. enjoying all the beautiful high-rises with everything from Art-deco to modern architecture.

Miami is becoming a gastronomic capital in the US, so I would definitely recommend having a unique cocktail during sunset on an open terrace, followed by a savory dinner in any trendy restaurant. I consider myself a foodie, so my free time revolves around food haha. Unlike what any person from Miami would tell you, I wouldn’t go to a club, unless it’s your vibe, but I would recommend more a night at the theater or drinks on a rooftop.

The next day I would suggest some outdoor activity, cycling through the Venetian Islands is one of my favorite things, the ride is very relaxing and once again you can see all the beautiful houses around the area. The Vizcaya Museum is also a must during the day, and you can stop by the farmer’s market.

Miami has a relevant shopping scene, with iconic and unique boutiques, I would recommend the design district for the iconic ones, and maybe coconut Grove or Wynwood for more unique ones.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think that we are the result of a perfect combination of places, people, and time.

I don’t really believe one can navigate its own path alone. From your personal life with your friends and family, co-workers, and trade partners, Interior Design is a team effort.

I’d like to thank everyone who has been there with me, those who have supported me in following my dreams, and who have enabled me to become the person and designer I am today.
