Meet Alessandra Taryn Bea | Producer, Content Creator & Talk Show Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alessandra Taryn Bea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alessandra Taryn, how do you think about risk?
Taking a risk in itself means that you may fail – it’s not a guaranteed yes. It’s understanding that what you do and all the effort you put forth might not result in what you were hoping and that’s okay. You have to get comfortable with failing, trying new things and learning more along the way. With anything, really, the more no’s you get, the closer you get to your yes.
I think every major decision in your life comes with a risk, but if you don’t “risk it”, the answer will always be no. I took risks by accepting jobs, not accepting jobs, working on certain gigs, going to school for a specific career, putting my focus on one thing versus the other, etc. They’ve all allowed me to grow as a professional and as an individual.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I went to film school for TV & Media and ended up producing a travel radio show for a big radio network for over five years. I learned a lot about the art of producing, making things and people come together, dealing with a lot of characters and personalities – none without challenges. I was traveling every other week, frustrated every week and cried a good amount during the first year of the job because the people I worked with were really tough. But I learned a lot and learned how to be a good leader, I think, because I didn’t experience good leadership – so I knew exactly how I wanted to be with others to foster efficiency, respect and harmony in the workplace. One of the biggest lessons I learned is to be honest (even blunt) with the people you work with and command the respect you deserve – it can be really hard, but if you don’t stick up for yourselves, no one else will.
Now I’m embarking on a new production journey where I’ll be marrying producing, veganism and social content a bit more – things that make me happy. I formed part of The Vegan View, a weekly YouTube talk show with 44k+ subscribers, over a year ago now. There I’m exploring my creativity in a different sense: I’m helping produce and diving into the super fun world of hosting.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends were visiting Los Angeles for the first time, I’d encourage them to get out of the touristy spots and head to the different communities for a real taste of the city of angels – vegan, of course. I’m from The Valley, so I’d start with an early iced oat latte from Caravana coffee in North Hollywood before hitting one of my quick go-to hiking trails in the area like Vital Link or Fryman. Then we brunch somewhere like SunCafe or Nesmon (for the best vegan crepes ever, get the lemon ones!) and people watch before heading out to some of the less-visited landmarks in LA, like the places where E.T., Boogie Nights and Back to the Future were filmed. Then we’d hit up some of the evening food markets in the valley like the Vegan Exchange or the 818 Night Market. If we’re wanting to have a beach day, we’re hiking (yes, always!) and brunching in Topanga Canyon with some thrift shopping in the mountains before ending up in Malibu for some sun and less crowded beaches – don’t go to Santa Monica beach unless you want to be the person taking photos of families in front of the Santa Monica pier. And since we’re technically on the west side, we can drive down to Venice and have dinner at Plant Food and Wine and desert at YogaUrt in Santa Monica before heading back. California is a gem and I consider myself extremely lucky to have grown up here, so I’d show my friends some of the great natural landmarks outside of Los Angeles and national and state parks surrounding the region – whether they’re an hour outside of the city or four hours outside.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is for my parents who are my core. They’ve always supported my ideas, even if they weren’t a fan in the beginning. I think it’s important to have people around you who support what it is that you truly want to do, because anyone can applaud you for having a great-paying job that doesn’t make you happy or fulfill your purpose. And secondly, the select friends who are your hype people. You can also tell who’s happy for you and who’s upset that your success isn’t theirs by how they react to you winning. I have a couple close friends who have always been in my circle and encouraged me to do things that even I wasn’t sure I was cut out for.
