We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Meyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexa, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Do we actually want perfect work life balance? I would prefer the scale to tip towards the “life” and family side of things. As my family has grown that has continued to become even more clear to me so I work hard to create a life where I enjoy my work but spend extra time with my family. My children are young and wont always need me the way they do now so I am trying to embrace that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Alexa Leigh is really about making people happy. We are a jewelry line on the outside but we think about the product differently than most brands. My son once asked me why I am always working and what I do. I told him, “I make magic.” I explained a story of a little girl that was sad and having a bad day. She received an Alexa Leigh bracelet with a lucky rainbow charm and she immediately stopped crying and started smiling. That’s magic. If you are lucky enough for your business to grow, the challenges you face continue to grow as well but that’s part of the fun. If it were easy, there wouldn’t be as much satisfaction in the successes. I’ve learned to stay in my own lane. Keep focusing on my strengths and what set us apart. Keep focusing on the “magic”. The rest falls into place.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am still learning my way around Miami so if my best friend came to visit we would be exploring and learning together. I do have some favorite restaurants though so our meals would definitely be planned. We would eat at KYU, Boia De, Makoto, Komodo, and Lucalis to name a few.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All the people that helped my along the way. I was lucky enough to have people pop in and out of my life at the right place at the right time to help move things forward emotionally, physically, etc. I wouldn’t be here without all of them.
