We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Gilardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexander, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
The beauty about this question is that you never really know. If you truly have a passion for something, then you are always going to want to be better at your craft and never give up on learning new experiences. For us, finding the small victories, while making improvements in our business is important for our growth as young entrepreneurs. The day we stop doing that, is the day we are giving up. Giving up should never be a word in an entrepreneur’s vocabulary. Instead, words like ‘transitioning’, or ‘evolving’ should be used. Shucking oysters for us is something we’d love to do for the rest of our lives, so finding the beauty in something that you can do for the rest of your life should make you want to keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I can say that I am mostly proud of with every job I have ever had, I really gave it my all. I went into work everyday trying to become the best version of myself in that position. I believe that in me doing that everyday for every job I have ever had is what led me to become a business owner. I realized that if I actually put the effort that I’m putting into making someone else money, then I can probably make my own money. Is it easy? Hell no. It’s actually harder… Being a business owner and creating a brand is one of the hardest things I will be probably ever do. Finding good partners is key to a successful business. Creating relationships and marketing your brand is something that won’t happen naturally. Going out into the field and being about your brand is something I have learned all throughout my life. The Lazy Oyster never turns off in my head. Always seeking to be better and represent ourselves in the best light. If there’s one thing I’d like the world to know about me is that I truly love to serve and host. Creating experiences for guests and going a little extra every time is what’s important to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Jaguar Sun for drinks and dinner for sure. BBQ at Margaret Pace Park in Edgewater, best park IMO. We would also maybe take a one day trip down to Islamorada and go have drinks by the water. Lazy Days down there is an all time childhood fave spot. We would go to the beach one of the days and then go have drinks at The Scapegoat Bar when they open. One of the days we would grab bikes and do the Key Biscayne bike ride all they way down to the Lighthouse and finish at the Miami Staple ‘Flannigans’.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
How much time do we have?

LOL.

From Day 1 the community of Miami has supported The Lazy Oyster. The list could be endless…

If we had to choose one person it would be our friend Andres Garcia or better known as Billy G from Billy G Catering. Billy has supported us many times in the expansion of The Lazy Oyster. There is a seat on our private jet if we ever get one for Billy G. Love you chef.
