We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandre Llobet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandre, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I come from a very strong math and science background but art is my alter ego. I love paintings, sculpture, music. Ever since I can remember I loved taking pictures. I was about 3 years old when I got my first camera.
As a teenager I dreamt of doing fashion shoots just like I saw in magazines but I never took the idea seriously.

The first time I officially sold my photographs was for a promotion for a new Ralph Lauren collection of bed sheets in Bloomingdale’s, NYC. I was very excited about that.
Much later on when the internet was getting big, I learned that one could sell their pictures online for stock.
So, I bought a small point and shoot digital camera to see if I could give it a try. To my surprise my pictures started selling.
I quickly learned that to make more money I needed to shoot people doing things like having fun, talking on their cell phones, etc. So, I joined some online groups and partook in model group shoots to build my portfolio, practice my lifestyle shoots and also to look for models for my stock portfolio.

Soon after I learned I could shoot fashion models too and some were willing to pay for my work.
Ever since, I’ve been shooting models for different agencies in New York from my Hoboken studio in NJ which had some beautiful lighting from the large windows. Last year I moved to Fort Lauderdale and have been shooting in the beautiful Miami beaches and Design District. I’ve just begun to explore.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My clients seem to love the clean look that my images have. I’m quite happy that my clients/models like my work and reach out to me for photo shoots.
I’m also quite excited when I get some of my work published. The models are also very happy.

Photography is always a challenge and a learning process. But to make it a business is a whole other level.
I’ve always dreamt of having my own business and photography is how I’m pursuing that dream.
It takes quite a bit of learning to run a business by reading and watching instructional videos.

My brand and style is nice clean images that have a magazine quality to them.
I love making my clients/models look as beautiful as possible and I’m constantly striving to create better images for them.
I also listen to what my clients and models are looking to shoot. Ideas are always welcome and encouraged.
This way I keep on top of what is the latest style and it gives me the opportunity to try something new and challenge my skills.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m currently living in Fort Lauderdale so I would take them to Las Olas boulevard. There are so many wonderful restaurants and shops there. Then I would then take them to New River where there are more restaurants, yachts and parks. I would definitely take them to the beaches here. They are wonderful and the water is such a beautiful turquoise color. What is really great is that you can swim in the ocean year round and it’s always a comfortable temperature.

I would also take them to Miami and Miami Beach. I have yet to explore those cities.
There is just so much more to see that I haven’t discovered yet.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off I’d like to give credit to my dad for getting me started in photography and my mom for being supportive of my entrepreneurial pursuit. For a shout out I’d like to thank some of the amazing Makeup Artists that have worked with me in the recent past…
Elena Melnichenko, Agnes Barnat, Claire Viehman, Natalie Aimer just to name a few.
They make my clients look amazing and are true artists and wonderful people.
And I would love to thank all the wonderful clients and models that came out to shoot with me. They make my work look amazing.
