We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a brand that was created for women by a woman. I love to see so many of my girlfriends going out and pursuing their dreams and building businesses so they were really my inspiration behind it. The number one thing each of them have told me is how much they dread social media so that’s when I had my “aha” moment and said, “I’m going to create a brand that caters to women owned businesses and can take off that stress of anything marketing related” and that’s how Girl Pwr Media was born.

What should our readers know about your business?
Girl Pwr Media is focused on women owned businesses. I’m a girls girl and I love seeing how many women are starting to pursue their dreams and becoming their own boss. I was a hair and makeup artist for many years and the most time consuming part of that was social media and marketing my brand, it really is a full time job. At Girl Pwr Media we take care of everything from beginning to end, branding, strategy, content creation and social media planning. All you have to worry about is bragging about how beautifully curated your brand looks.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so many amazing spots to check out, this one I had to think about. It all depends on your vibe but this is where I would take my best friend. We would start at La Industria for brunch in Bayside, then we would hit South Beach and go to the Fontainebleau and spend the whole day at the Lapis Spa, then we would get ready for dinner at Komodo and end the night for some fun at Tipsy Flamingo or Sugar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be who I am without my mother and my grandmother. Everything I am and everything I have accomplished is because of them. They taught me to be the strong woman I am today and nothing I have ever done would have been possible without their constant love and support.
