We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Sierra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I don’t know if I have a favorite quote, but this is one that comes to mind frequently: “Stay teachable, regardless of how much you may know”. I read this quote online a long time ago and it just kind of stuck with me. No idea who the author is.

Being in the businesses i’m in require a lot of communication, sometimes we as humans can get in the way of ourselves when an Idea or concept isn’t panning out how we planned. Sometimes its beneficial to just take a step back and have someone else insert their perspective. Sometimes, that doesn’t always work out either haha!

The fact of the matter is, perspective is everything. Even if it doesn’t help whatever you’re working on in that moment, idea’s are breeding ground for more ideas! Thus leading to innovation.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a film and commercial actor based in South Florida, what sets me apart? Well, I like to consider myself a multi-hyphenate, which is essentially someone who’s multi-talented or well-versed in many things.

Some exciting things in the works are my first Invitation to the American Black Film Festival here in Miami Beach, I recently entered and won their 2023 “Scene Stealers” Challenge with a scene I re-created from Issa Rae’s T.v. Series “Insecure”. You can catch the scene on ABFF’s or my own social media! I also have film premiere coming up on June 24th, where 2 films i’ve had the pleasure of starring in will be featured amongst other films created by wonderfully talented artists. I recently launched my own production company @Sierrafilm.co where you can check out all my latest personal film projects.

Being in Real Estate, Acting, and Production, my worlds collide way more often than one would think! I’m most proud of how I am able to not only balance, but merge my passions to benefit not just myself, but those around me. Is it easy? HECK NO! In fact, sometimes it feels like i’m this mad scientist mixing together these things that we’re told simply don’t go together, when in fact, i’ve created something beautiful.

I am very proud of where i’m at today, there were many people in my life coaxing me to stick to one path. That having “my hand in so many pots” could only hurt me. It felt like no one could see my vision but hey, they don’t have my perspective, and that’s okay. It’s not for them.
Sometimes things don’t work out and its rough but it’s all a learning experience. One of the biggest lessons i’ve learned is that failure is growth. You may not get it right on the first try, maybe not even the second, but as long as you’re learning, you have the keys to succeed. Knowledge. Is. Power.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them a great time, some of my favorite spots in my city to visit would be starting at the beach! I know Miami and Fort Lauderdale beach are usually front runners, however a personal favorite beach of mine is Hollywood beach and the Hollywood shops strip. I find this beach to be a good mix of the vibrant, whimsical, family-friendly vibe during the day, while when the sun sets, you can find plenty of vivacious night life in the area. If you’re down for a beach vibe without really being on the beach, you can hit the Hollywood strip for a slice of THE BEST pizza at Mauro’s. If I wanted to show them a real taste of Miami, I’d take them to Miami Beach to experience the upscale party scene in the nightlife of Miami! A more relaxed day would probably consist of Brunch at Bar Rita in Fort Lauderdale or a quick trip to Rhythm & Vine for some tunes, games, and great food! If we wanted to be more active, i’d take them to one of my favorite local parks in Davie ‘Tree Tops Park’ where they have activities like horseback riding, nature trails, and wetland view points! One of my favorite things about Florida is our all around diversity, in nature and the people who inhabit it!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been blessed with not just one, but a few of the best support systems a woman could ask for! I’d like to start with God, my number 1, my faith is so important to me and has guided me through the best and worst of it all.

Next is definitely my family, and trust its my WHOLE family, I’m just so surrounded with love and encouragement. Mom and Dad, Meredith and Christopher Patterson: Realtors and Investors extraordinaire. They encouraged me to get my start in Real Estate from 18 years old. They have a range of businesses from helping people find affordable housing in South Florida, to fixing, flipping, and providing what they can as well from their own inventory. You can check them out on Instagram @CapitalMadeEZ. My love for Real Estate and helping people find their perfect home has helped support my artistic dreams. I’m so grateful to have found love for it an such a young age.

Next I absolutely have to mention the best production companies in South Florida: Range of View Productions, Away Films, and The Collectives. They’ve given me a plethora of opportunity in creating, collaborating, and broadening my creative perspective in the Film and Video production world. I’m very proud to announce some dope upcoming projects with them and cant wait to see more of what the future holds. You can find them on Instagram @rovproductions, @away.films, and @thecllctvs.

Last but certainly not least, I would love to shout out my acting coach Michael Jacques. He has and continues to impart so much wisdom onto my peers and I. In addition to that, he motivates me to motivate myself, you know? His insight continues to help me on my path as an actor and I’m incredibly grateful to have him as a teacher, mentor, and friend.
