We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfio Lora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alfio, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The first and most important thing was doing something that I feel passionate about. Life has taught me that as long as I do something that I love and I feel passionate about, It will never be “work”. That has proven to be true to me.

Once I decided on photography, the next step was doing my due-diligence on how I can get into it with the resources I had at the moment. Thanks to today’s technology and access to tons of information online, I was able to come up with a strategy.

Lastly, learn and polish the knowledge that I needed in order to do it as a business, Before, photography was only a hobby, so doing it professionally is a different beast all together.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One important thing besides doing what I love for a living, that I always wanted in my live, is being independent, not having a “boss”, or having to punch in and out. When I moved out of the States , I was able to accomplish that, and when I decided to move back to my hometown Miami, as a mature man, having to start from zero, being able to accomplish that, was something that I have to confess, I had my doubts. Even though I did have my challenges at first, I did my best to believe in myself, and most importantly, the fact that what I chose to do, I did with love. Sure enough, things started to get better and better, and I am very happy to say that I have accomplished most of my professional dreams here in Miami, but always with more goals in mind to become better and better and provide great service to my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Miami, without any doubt, the first thing on the list would be the beaches. People come from all over the world to Miami for the fun in the sun. As far as other activities, I love the downtown area with all of its vibrant dining and PARTYING options. and of course, the many options there are in our city to enjoy my favorite sport, Golf, obviously , if he likes that ! LOL !!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I like to thank my beautiful wife who was very supportive of me during that stage of my life. I was going thru some challenging situations, professionally speaking, moved back to Miami full time after many many years living overseas, thus in a way was like starting again from scratch, and to top it off, I was already in my 50’s
