We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Bloom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The key to my success was becoming knowledgeable of the product I wanted to create, finding high quality ingredients, and being consistent with my eye catching presentation. Another thing that was extremely important was catering to my customers to ensure their satisfaction.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I came to the United States of America 20 years ago and started working at a small pizzeria close to home. There, I learned how important it was to maintain consistency in a business to have success and to put my heart into what I was doing in order to do the job well. One of the biggest obstacles I had to overcome was the language barrier. At the time I was only fluent in Spanish, and although it was challenging to overcome, I am now proud to say that I am fluent in both my native tongue and in English. About 2 years later I was hired as a server at a high-end steakhouse in Miami Lakes. In this position I learned to be a perfectionist that strives for excellence in all that I do. I also acquired the skills to provide the best service possible to clients. After 8 years of being a server, I was given the opportunity to expand my knowledge and I became a business development manager (BDM) for the restaurant. As the BDM I planned events such as weddings, corporate events, graduations, etc. on our beautiful property and I was so happy to see how the events I planned made my clients feel. During my time at the steakhouse I became a sommelier which allowed me to plan wine dinners and make the perfect pairings with food. This was a huge step towards what I do now with charcuterie which makes a beautiful pairing with wine and spirits.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend were in town I would be sure to take them by the Brickell area and stop in at one of the many beautiful restaurants there are to choose from. I would also take them to a rooftop restaurant/bar such as Astra in Wynwood and walk around to look at the artwork all over the Wynwood walls. Another great option would be to visit our picturesque beaches and have dinners by the water.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am forever grateful for my family and friend’s continuous love and support throughout my journey of becoming a small business owner. However, my greatest inspiration stems from my childhood. Growing up, both of my parents were extremely talented and creative people. I also had a passion for food and loved seeing how it could bring people together. I channeled the creativity that I have from my parents and my love for food into what is Creation in Bloom today.
