We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Gitlitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As an integrative nutrition coach, my mission is to empower individuals to take control of their health by helping them break free from the grip of sugar. Sugar is one of the leading contributors to chronic disease such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and even Alzheimer’s disease. Through education and personalized coaching, I guide my clients in understanding the harmful effects of sugar on the body and teach them effective strategies to eliminate cravings and reclaim their health.
What inspired me to start this journey was my own experience with gestational diabetes. I was faced with a reality check – sugar wasn’t just a harmless indulgence, it was causing real harm to my body. As I began, to explore the science behind sugar and it impact on overall health, I realized how widespread and dangerous its consumption truly is. After experimenting with sugar detoxes, and feeling the incredible benefits such as overcoming lifelong allergies and improving my energy, I knew i had to share this knowledge to help others avoid similar health struggles.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As an Integrative Nutrition Coach, I find deep fulfillment in guiding clients to health through the transformative power of food. I’m like your sugar divorce lawyer, helping you break up with sugar without the sticky drama, and equipping you with tools to elevate your well-being. My work brings me immense pride as I support clients in embracing a healthy lifestyle, preventing disease, managing weight, boosting energy, improving sleep, and building confidence that radiates from within.
My journey began with my own wake-up call: a diagnosis of gestational diabetes, which made me recognize my sugar addiction. Realizing how sugar was impacting my health, I dove into studying nutrition, discovering how powerful food truly is. Once I eliminated sugar, I felt incredible relief—no more allergies, cravings, bloating, or fatigue. It wasn’t easy, but through trial and error, I developed my own five-step method to conquer sugar cravings, which I now share with the world.
What sets me apart from other coaches, is my creativity and genuine love for people and the world around me. I partner closely with clients, providing support every step of the way. I’m there whenever they need me, even if it’s mid-afternoon when a sugar craving strikes, to walk them through my five-step approach.
Beyond one-on-one coaching, I lead engaging workshops that empower clients to navigate everyday challenges—how to host a stunning dinner party or make it through the holidays without packing on extra pounds. My most recent accomplishment is as an author in the collaborative book Heal to Lead. This collection brings together unique perspectives from authors who’ ve turned their struggles into wisdom.
My creativity infuses every aspect of my work as a nutrition coach. My process extends beyond coaching—I view each meal as a canvas, blending vibrant, nutrient-rich foods that nourish the body and delight the senses. Culinary artistry at the table and in life feels like a true gift I’m privileged to share. My mission is to help people embrace the truth behind sugar, elevating their health, longevity, and joy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is a vibrant playground where health and fun come together in the BEST way! Here is how I would show my friend the magic of this fabulous city.

Day 1: Beach Bliss – We’d start with a sunrise yoga session on South Beach, followed by a refreshing swim and a healthy brunch at one of the amazing beachside cafes. Some of my favorites are Crema, Pura Vida & Market (Jean Georges).

Day 2: Art & Culture – A day in the Wynwood Arts District, where we would explore the colorful street murals, visit local galleries, and enjoy a fresh, tropical smoothie at Life Cafe.

Day 3: Nature Escape – Nothing is better than unwinding in nature! Biscayne Bay is the perfect place for a kayaking or paddle boarding adventure, then relax with a picnic of homemade wholesome snacks and fresh fruit.

Day 4: Farmers Market Finds – A trip to the Coconut Grove Farmers Market to sample exotic fruits, fresh juices, and pick up ingredients for a plant based cooking session back home.

Day 5 – Spa & Wellness – We’d rejuvenate with a spa day, including natural treatments and beach or rooftop yoga class, followed by a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Some of my favorites are Mandolin, Call Me Gabby & Los Fuegos.

Day 6 – Salsa & Sunset – An evening salsa session in Little Havana, finishing with a sunset view and dancing in the warm Miami night.

Day 7 – Brunch & Beach Wrap Up – One last brunch at a chic spot, like Nikki Beach, followed by a relaxing afternoon on the beach to soak up the last of the Miami sun!

Every day would be a blend of Miami’s incredible energy. The perfect way to experience this lively city and leave feeling fresh and inspired. A perfect week!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I attribute my path as a health coach and my passion for artistic expression to two remarkable inspirations in my life. To my father who gifted me with a creative lens, a love for nature, and an appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us. Through his artistry, I learned to view the world as a canvas – fueling my love for food, cooking and creating beautiful tablescapes as well as creating abstract expressionist paintings which has fueled my thriving business as an artist.

And to Keri Glassman, whose dedication to health and wellness has been a guiding light on my journey. Her knowledge, support, and the incredible community she has built has been a profound source of encouragement and growth. I am endlessly grateful for her vision and the inspiration she brings to me.
