Meet Alicia Smith: Owner & Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Having a positive attitude and taking an interest in our customers. What starts as a visit to Quvo swiftly becomes an addition to our family.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Quvo has been a fantastic journey throughout our first 4 years. Adding to our Quvo family (customers) has been exciting. Creativity, perseverance & patience have been vital to our survival, particularly with the impact of COVID-19 in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to think outside the box to maintain a level of income. Pre-COVID-19 we maintained very little takeout/delivery business. During the pandemic we implemented online ordering and family meal packs for the first time. We feel that this pivot was instrumental in our survival during 2020. Our Brand/Story – At Quvo we serve California Style Mexican food prepared by Alicia, a first generation Mexican American who began cooking as a young child in her parents boarding home serving migrant farm workers. We are delighted to share the same Mexican treats taught by her mother Eva Romero, a well known cook in her barrio.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are definitely foodies, our week long itinerary would include the following in South Florida.
Breweries – Civil Society (WPB), Dangerous Minds, Invasive Species, Orchestrated Minds, J Wakefield, Tarpon River,.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Matt & I would have to give a shoutout to our Quvo Team; Madeline, Esther & Carmen. These ladies are hard-working, trustworthy & respectful. Alicia and I are truly fortunate to have these ladies on our team.
