We had the good fortune of connecting with Allisyn Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allisyn, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side.” Growing up that made me feel as if someone would always have a better life. It made me focus on what I could be and what I could have instead of appreciating anything I had right in front of me. This piece of advice is a belief that others lives are better than our own. I believe that the happiness and fulfillment of our own lives depends on only one thing, and that is our own self. If I want my grass greener, I will put in the work to make it greener on my own. I can’t expect my grass to be as green as the other side if I never give it the attention it needs to grow. The grass may seem greener on the other side but we all have everything it takes to make our grass just as green as our neighbors.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I first got into the drone industry I never thought I would go on a path that allowed me to be a creator or artist in any way. My passion for drones started more towards the technical side of things such as different programs and building my own drones. I received my first job as a video creator and was far too hard on myself. I didn’t believe in myself and stressed myself out for almost two weeks before I finally decided to send it over. I was far too critical of myself but the client loved the way it turned out. I loved everything about capturing aerial footage and producing a story with the footage. I continued to pursue other cinematography gigs and that is now the majority of my business. I enjoy every day of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best time I have ever had in Miami was spent at Oleta River State park. It is located in North Miami and has 1,043 acres of wildlife giving you a little get-away from the fast paced living in Miami. As we all know, it is almost impossible to find a hill in Florida. At Oleta I was able to go mountain biking and hiking and there are endless ways to spend your time in Oleta State Park. There isn’t a beach nearby, but you can take your kayak or paddle board out and explore the waterways to all the Keystone islands. Truly a gem you don’t want to miss when visiting Miami.

After Oleta State Park I like to go to Miami Squeeze, a health food restaurant that offers smoothies, juices, wraps, and salads. They have an immaculate island vibe in Miami Squeeze. Healthy inspirational neon quotes & foliage fill the walls. The staff were quick and friendly & the food was incredible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For my shoutout I want to thank my Grandma Teresa for giving me as much support, love, and encouragement that she was able to give. She deserves so much credit in helping me become who I am. She inspired me to not only be kind to others, but to overall be kind to myself. I love you to the moon and back, grandma.
