We had the good fortune of connecting with Amah Cynthia Dongo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amah Cynthia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business platform with Art Creation Design is that its about creativity and expressing yourself through colors and lights. Art Creation Design promotes a positive mindset and collaborates with artists and other creatives through art and fashion. I also want to show a community and a safe place for ranges of talents and expressions. Its wearable expressive designs inspired by art and artists, but also a platform where people are having joy and feel an openness to express without the constructs of what artists feel in the art regiment. And so creating a business inspired by my art is another layer. I love to hear clients say oh I never thought I’d loo good in this color and I got so many compliments. This element of surprise is wonderful!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is full of colors and shapes. I use something simple to create complex paintings and stories. So everyone sees what they wish to see. I think I am most proud to continuously grow and expand as an artist. Fashion and art are two worlds of creativity. Creating a story that connects to people and a business is not always easy. There are days you are tired or ask yourself does it make sense. It is important to love what you do and also keep perspective that this is a challenge we all face as creatives. I think I want people to know it is possible to create something from new and that you take it one step , one accomplishment, one challenge at a time. I honor and am honored to have those moments where it makes me better. I hope this reflects in my art and business as I want to inspire and connect with people on a universal level.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I went to University of Miami so I was a Miami hurricane before transferring. I would go to South Beach for sure! And I’d probably go to the Grove restaurant to eat. There are colors, light, great scenery. You can really start out your day there and a bit of everything within a good 5 miles I would also go try some amazing latin food as a must, a place like Ceviche 105 is terrific or something amazing in Nikki Beach where you relax and have fun. I’d later take them to enjoy the Art district as it is a sight to see and browse and if there is a chance to catch sports, I say watching a Miami Heat game is awesome

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been lucky to have a great support team including my mentors Adam Peachy, Laura Solomon who is an amazing art advisor, multi-media artist Katelyn Kopenhaver and my boyfrriend Astolfo Maria Cicerano.
