We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Carney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my “brand” as a christian content creator is my obedience to God. When I first started creating content, I did it for myself and my own glory. The results of my following mirrored just that. I received a lot of resistance from my peers and friends, with people even mocking me publicly. I was told that posting about Jesus would never make a living for me and was a passion I need to give up on. I prayed about it for a long time, and I realized that in order to be successful I needed to stop posting the “pretty” parts of my faith and start posting the “real” parts. I started sharing about my story as a college student who lost her dad & 5 other family members in one year, yet still kept her faith and hope. I started sharing about my experience with my mental health as a christian. I shared about my doubts as a christian. And I stopped posting to make myself look perfect; rather I posted my imperfections to highlight the perfection of God. I now have upwards of 60,000 followers and get to work with christian companies that I love.
If you get anything by reading this, I hope it is this: there is hope, there is a God who cares so deeply for you. He has a plan for you, it is a plan for good and when you choose to follow it above your own, you will see God’s favor upon you. You will still face hardships, but God will be there for you fighting your battles. If you feel like you are lacking something in your life, it is never too late to seek God. I have never experienced joy the way that I do with God leading my life, no matter what I go through, I find comfort in knowing that God is on my side.
There is a lot more that God has planned for me and I am so excited to continue to share all that he is doing in my life to bring hope to this world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Just to preface, I still have a long way to go in my career. I am currently a 20 year old college student, studying marketing. My “business” is content creation. I post all about my journey as a christian and the things that I learn. I think what sets me apart form others is that I talk about the “hard” things. I talk about the ugly parts of my life where God has brought me out of. I am tired of only hearing about christians’ success, I want to hear about people who struggle and how they moved past it. So that is why I started posting the content that I do. I am taking marketing in hopes of becoming a social media manager for christian companies and organizations. I want more people to be reached with the gospel, and social media is a great way to do so. In the future, I also see myself writing books, and speaking to young adults about Jesus and my testimony.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone who has supported me & inspired me my whole life is my uncle, Farmer Jay. He created his own business “Farmer Jay Pure Organics” where he builds gardens for people and businesses in our area. Not only that, but he has a TED talk and he teaches kids at schools about nutrition and how to grow food. My uncle has always shown me that I can do anything I set my heart to. He taught me to stay true to who I am, no matter what people may say about me. After my Dad passing away in 2021, I am so grateful to still have an amazing role model in my life who will always support me and be there for me, whatever I need.
