We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda L. Fernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda L., what do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of hard work and a strong support system. Being a great lawyer is demanding–it takes a lot of hours and dedication. To do my job well while raising three children, it’s important for me to have a strong support network on which I can rely. My mom has been amazing, generously assisting with childcare, and my husband has also provided support and encouragement to pursue my career goals.

I’ve also been fortunate to have great mentors who have given me guidance throughout my career. Their insights have been instrumental in my growth, both personally and professionally. Connecting with other women attorneys and friends who face similar challenges has been a source of strength during difficult times. Sharing experiences and supporting one another has created a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond professional hurdles.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the newly named Managing Partner at Rivero Mestre where I practice complex litigation at the highest levels including handling arbitrations and cross-border matters. I got to where I am today by maintaining a strong and steady work ethic throughout my career, expanding my network through community involvement, and bettering myself by taking on leadership roles within legal associations.

One important lesson I have learned is it’s important to understand my clients’ needs beyond the courtroom. Maintaining a high level of client service, consistently producing excellent results, and continuing to deepen client relationships has been key to my success as a lawyer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would love to show my friend all that Miami has to offer! We would definitely go shopping in Brickell City Center, do a beach day at Bill Baggs in Key Biscayne, and tour Wynwood to see all the amazing art. As a mom, I also love kid-friendly activities like Zoo Miami, the Berry Farm in Homestead, Pinecrest Gardens, and the various farmers markets around the county. I would also make sure to include a stroll down Miracle Mile, a lunch on Giralda Plaza, a cafecito at a ventanita in Little Havana, and dinner in Coconut Grove.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Judge Lisa Walsh has been an incredible mentor and friend to me over the years. Prior to attending law school, I worked for Judge Walsh as her legal assistant and then her judicial assistant. She has provided me with guidance throughout the years on how to navigate this profession, especially as a woman and mother, and has provided me with invaluable wisdom and insight.
