We had the good fortune of connecting with Amir Khalighi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amir, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There are some who put a lot of thought into what they create, and there are those who are called so loudly that they cannot escape the reality of their soul’s path. For decades, I worked with men, supporting them as they navigated life through addictions and various challenges—but it wasn’t until 2018 that I had a clear vision of what the second act of my life would look like.

Like any worthwhile creation, before the birth of something new, there is pain. The pain of my self-discovery and clarity of purpose took nearly 25 years of spiritual labor and five days of delivery. This all culminated in the birth of Embodied Masculine™—EmbodiedMasculine.com—and a deep knowing of why I’m here.

Those 25 years were filled with soul searching, service, working with hundreds of men, and learning to surrender everything outside of myself that I thought would bring me peace—teachings, retreats, introspection, and travels to far-off lands in search of answers. The years matured me spiritually, but a part of me remained discontent. I had yet to fully discover my purpose on this planet.

The five days of delivery, as I like to call them, came during a leadership retreat deep in the Mojave Desert. My friend John had invited me to teach at this training and to participate if I chose to. I said yes.

It may have simply been my time for “delivery,” but it happened in the presence of 32 powerful men. Through a series of profound practices and shared camaraderie in the desert, it became clear how hungry our society is for men like these—men of integrity and commitment to a higher calling. It became clear that men of all ages need initiation and training to bring them into the fold. I made up my mind to dedicate the second act of my life to the service of building men—for boys are born, but men are made.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider the work I do in the world to be both my soul’s dharma and my art—an expression of devotion that has required me to strip away the bells and whistles of conventional success and tune instead to the quiet, unwavering voice of my heart.

To walk this path has meant letting go of societal templates and instead answering a deeper call—one that doesn’t come with guarantees, but does come with truth. It has required me to begin with myself: my own healing, my own shadow, my own becoming. Only by walking through those inner chambers have I been able to guide others through theirs.

My art lives at the intersection of heaven and earth. One foot rooted in the soil of this world, the other stretched into the unseen—into the vastness of Spirit. I answer to One, and that One is the Divine pulse that breathes life into all things. It lives through me, just as it lives through you.

What sets this work apart is that it isn’t born of strategy—it’s born of surrender. What I’m most proud of is that I’ve stayed faithful to the unseen architecture of this calling, even when it would’ve been easier to conform. The greatest lesson? That purpose is not something we chase—it’s something we remember. And once remembered, we must have the courage to walk in it, barefoot and all.

If there’s anything I’d want the world to know about me or the story behind Embodied Masculine™, it’s that this isn’t a brand—it’s a living, breathing prayer. A sanctuary for men to remember who they are beneath the armor, and to rise—not as products of a broken culture, but as vessels of truth, service, and sacred power.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Considering I’m not from Miami, if you were to visit me in Southern California, I’d take you deep into the soulful heart of Topanga Canyon—a place where the trees speak, the air is sacred, and the community has chosen a different way of life.

Here, people have said no to the empty promises of commercialism and yes to something slower, more connected, and more meaningful. We’d start our mornings with tea or strong coffee at Topanga Living Café, tucked among oaks and hummingbirds. Then, we’d hike the trails that wind through the Santa Monica Mountains—perhaps up to Eagle Rock or through Red Rock Canyon—letting the land do what it does best: remind us of what matters.

We’d spend afternoons walking through local artisan markets, dipping into creekside spots, and visiting friends who live communally in the canyon—people who’ve chosen intentional living, regenerative practices, and shared resources over the rush of modern life. One evening, we’d gather for a ceremonial fire under the stars at the base of Topanga, an hour home, maybe with live music or storytelling, something real that leaves an imprint on the soul.

For meals, I’d take you to places like Inn of the Seventh Ray, where dining feels like a spiritual experience. This would be a week not of tourist checklists but of presence, connection, and nourishment for all the senses.

If you visit Topanga with an open heart, it’ll leave something in you forever.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, a deep bow of gratitude to my beloved wife, Keri Khalighi, who has never once flinched in the face of my calling. Her unwavering presence, love, and trust have been the ground beneath my feet and the wind at my back. She has stood beside me through every threshold crossed, every death and rebirth, holding space with the kind of fierce grace that only a woman deeply rooted in her own path can offer.

I also extend heartfelt thanks to the teachers, mentors, and guides who have shaped me—Shri Amir Mourad, Kadea Mentara, and Sue Holmes—each a torchbearer in their own right, illuminating the dark corridors of my becoming with wisdom and integrity.

And to the thousands of men who have entrusted me with their stories, wounds, hopes, and transformations—you are my greatest teachers. Your courage to step into the fire of remembrance and reclaim your wholeness continues to humble me. This path is not walked alone, and every footstep echoes with the presence of those who have walked beside me.
