Meet Amy Taylor (Paskow)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Taylor (Paskow) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
That we exist really. Did you know most people have never heard of color analysis?
I find myself doing alot of “enlightening” as a photographer once called it, because its not something he really has to do. Everyone knows what hiring a photographer means. But what does hiring a “color analyst” mean? What do you get? What is it for? Why would you need this?
Well, we get dressed every morning, most of us, without thinking. But, we never do it without feeling. What you choose to put on either makes you feel energised, or sluggish and drained.- and alot of that outcome has to do with the color.
When a color is outside of the range that lifts your skintone into a healthy glow and brings your features into the forefront, it will do the opposite. It will make you look zapped of energy, pasty, pale, washy and cheap! However, when the color is sitting well against your natural tones, you don’t just look better. You feel better. You radiate confidence and clarity.. That’s a power most people haven’t tapped into—yet.
What’s it for? Color analysis isn’t about being trendy. It’s about calming the noise of endless choice, about being true to yourself. When you find your palette, it becomes easier to show up feeling authentic and energized. This helps in a professional setting —whether you’re going for a promotion, working to increase sales, creating a sense of trust, or simply wanting to feel more at ease in your own skin, It also can be used for personal branding, designing interior spaces for your home or office, or any type of project where you need your unique voice.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The past 20 years have been about film/TV and visual effects, the high art of filmmaking, working with top Directors and Creatives that care very much about every pixel on your screen. I have had half a lifetime of pleasing them to no end, some with being awarded the highest honors of Oscars and BAFTAS but alot of hours without thanks…yet I have to admit I still loved it, even though it felt endless. Because an artist’s work is really never finished, and I , frankly, care about getting it absolutely perfect as much as they do.
This is why I started my own business, so that I can meticulously care about others’ colorful vision in the same way. I also care about composition, space, focal point and storytelling, which I am working into New Wave Color and my clients’ stories. I want to help you be the focal point, tell the story you want to tell, not someone else’s.
They always say the key to selling your brand is to be authentic, but how can you do that if you are following and adopting other people’s trends? My goal with New Wave Color is to help clients get back to themselvse, so that can build from the foundation that no one else has.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I do have small children, so going out on the town might mean where’s the best splash pads and kid friendly restaurants! I live near Aventura so the Bal harbour shops are great to walk around as they have turtle ponds and indoor/outdoor areas to explore with lovely tropical plants. On the flipside we quite like Duffy’s on the intercoastal as we can watch the European football games whilst the kids look for fish and watch the boats go by.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the love and patience of my husband, I would not have been able to even try this pivot. The past few years he has watched and listened to me go through some very tough transitions in my career, and all along the way, he’s supported my views, my strong need to grow and expand in other directions, and hold true to my moral compass. When I have shown feelings of failure or defeated by the process, he is right there to remind me what has worked, when to steer into a clearer path, and when to just accept where the path has taken me. He’s been the eyes and ears and steady strength this family has needed while I climb this brand new mountain. I am beyond grateful for him, our children, my sister and parents.
