Meet Analiz Mafra | Singer and Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Analiz Mafra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Analiz, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved to sing — it’s how I connect with the world and with myself. When I was still very young, a music teacher saw something in me. She believed in my potential and offered to teach me guitar for free. That simple act changed everything for me.
Choosing a creative path wasn’t just a decision — it was something that felt natural, like following the rhythm of my own heart. Music isn’t just how I express my emotions; it’s how I feel them. It gives meaning to my life in a way nothing else does.
Pursuing music is my biggest dream. Every time I sing, I feel more alive, more myself. It’s not just about creating sound — it’s about telling stories, healing, and connecting with others through something deeply human and real.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born in Brazil, and in the middle of my teenage years, I moved to the United States. That transition was incredibly difficult. At that point, I already knew I wanted to be an artist — music was my dream, my passion, and my way of being in the world. But moving to a new country, facing a different language and culture, I didn’t know if I would be able to follow that dream anymore. I questioned myself many times — would I ever feel confident enough to write in another language? To walk into studios and connect with people in a music industry that felt so far from where I started?
It wasn’t easy. But I’ve learned that when something truly lives inside you, when it’s a part of who you are, there is no obstacle in the world strong enough to stop you. Music is that for me. It’s not just something I do — it’s what makes me feel alive. Without it, I don’t feel like myself.
What sets me apart is the heart I put into everything I create. My art is honest, emotional, and rooted in real stories. I carry with me my roots, my struggles, and my resilience in every song I write and every note I sing.
What I want the world to know about me — and about my story — is that the impossible is just an opinion. There will always be people telling you that you can’t, that your dream is too big, too far, too unrealistic. But the phrase that I carry with me, the one that keeps me going, is this: “A dream is expensive, but giving up costs a dream.” And I’m not willing to pay that price.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d definitely want to give them an experience that blends great food, vibrant culture, and the artistic soul of the city. One of the first places I’d take them would be Wynwood — it’s one of my favorite neighborhoods because it’s where art truly comes alive. The walls are covered in murals, the vibe is creative, and you’re surrounded by color, music, and expression everywhere you look.
For dinner, we’d head to Brickell or back to Wynwood — and we’d absolutely have to eat at a Japanese restaurant, since that’s my favorite type of food. Miami has some amazing spots for that.
If we wanted a drink, I’d take them to DANFI, a hidden gem of a bar in Wynwood. It’s got such a cool atmosphere, with vinyl records spinning all night and amazing Brazilian music playing. The owner is Brazilian, so it always feels like a little piece of home, and the energy there is unmatched.
For a slower afternoon, I’d take them for coffee and pastries at one of my favorite bakeries — La Boulangerie, a beautiful French spot with great ambiance and incredible treats.
Throughout the week, we’d explore some of Wynwood’s art galleries and museums, take walks by the water, maybe even catch some live music. To me, the best time is made up of good food, good music, and good company — and Miami has the perfect mix of all three.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. First, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mom, Andrezza Mafra. She has always been my biggest supporter — the one who believed in me when all I had was a dream. Her strength, love, and sacrifices gave me the courage to follow my passion.
I also want to thank Adriana, the guitar teacher who saw something in me when I was just a young girl. She taught me for free because she believed in my talent, and that simple act of generosity helped me discover the artist inside of me.
And finally, I want to give credit to music itself. Music has saved me more times than I can count. It’s where I find comfort, where I find truth, and where I find myself. Without music, I honestly don’t know who I would be. It’s not just what I do — it’s what keeps me going.
