We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Avila Rauseo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
In my home country there is a common advice/saying that states “better bad known than good to get to know” which I believe is the worst advice that you can give someone. It basically makes people conform with a situation that they hate when there is an exit to that situation. Being a conformist is the worst thing a person can be because if you get the courage to change the situation that you do not like you can end up with something that you like and love. Sometimes change can be scary, but most of the times is completely worth it and sometimes we need to trust life. So I would totally disagree with this advice and if someone gives it to you just do not hear it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
On top of being a business owner, I am also a Finance student. I am currently working to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and I completed my Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in April. One of the thing that I am really proud and happy about is to be the first woman in my family to go into Finance which is seen as a “major for men”. The hardest part of being a woman in Finance is facing that stereotype that anything money related needs to be done or handle by men when women as a capable as men. Sometimes I feel a little intimidated when facing this situations, but I always tell myself If I am here is because first I am suppose to be here and I am qualify and capable to deal with anything that is thrown at me. Now you might be wondering why do I have a swimwear brand? I started it not only to have a second source of income for myself, which after COVID shutdown I realize was very important, but for the connection that I feel with the beach. I used to go a lot to the beach when I was a kid, I have tons of swimwear, and I have an incredible love for fashion. So basically, I transformed something that I love and was obsessed with into a business idea. I used the evil eye as the soul of the brand because I am a stronger believer that people’s bad energy and envy affects ours so the evil eye is supposed to prevent this bad energy affecting yours. I want to use my business and career as an inspiration for all the girls out there that have dreams and be the example that we, women, are capable to achieve anything that we want and we are unstoppable .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends comes to visit Miami, which happens really often since as she has a house here this is what we will do: First, we’ll go Brickell City Center to get an ice cream and of course buy some clothes in Zara. The next day, we will go to an exposition that might be happening in the City such as Superblue or the Van Gogh Experience. We will for sure do brunch in one of my favorites spots in the heart of Brickell called Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita which have an incredible rooftop with an amazing view. Finally for a girls night out, I will take her to one of my favorite wine spots call Lagniappe where we can have good wine and charcuterie boards with an incredible atmosphere. Finally, we will go to Miami Beach for a day at the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom, she has being my #1 supporter since day 1. She has cheered me up when I go through a tough time and motivated me when I am having negative thoughts. She has being key in every step of my journey. I would also love to dedicate my shoutout to my friends from my home country, Venezuela. Nayshla, Made, Giovanna, Stephanie, and Angelina have been key for me to get to the point where I am today. They are the best girl gang that I could ever ask for, even though we do not see each other very often as we all live in different countries. They supported me through one of the hardest time of my life and helped me since the beginning of my business. More than friends they are my sisters.
