We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Stark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
First and foremost is my passion for what I do; I am a visual artist, and i wouldn’t trade it, for anything in the world!!! The process of creating, in this case, painting, is a pleasure as the artwork itself guides me on where and what to do. I always start my pieces by drawing an oval, which serves as the prelude to a face. And that’s where my journey begins. I haven’t been sketching for many years. I recieve information; from my free expression of no thinking what to draw and paint, I just feel it and do it. Painting and drawing in its sublime art expression is a liberation of a unconcious feeling, thats why my art is so colorful, many colors representing a feeling or mix of them.

Over three years ago, I also had the opportunity to translate my works onto ceramic cups and trays. Although it’s a different material, the result is amazing. A few days ago, I also started working on new products like faux leather placemats and trays of the same material. Art objects allow people to get an excellent product at a more affordable price, reaching a broader audience. Soon, they will be available in supermarket chains. This process came to me casually, but within myself, I asked a question: how can I bring art to more people? And the universe is always responding, perhaps never in the way we think it should appear.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

First, I want to thank my father, a great mentor. He was a positive person who overcame World War II with his family. Then, my drawing and painting teacher, Carmen Silva, a Chilean painter, became my great life teacher. My two children were also my great teachers. Thanks to the adversities of complex moments, they always had and continue to have faith in me.

I’m also grateful to Master José Luis Parise, with whom I attended his school of initiation and occultism, resulting in significant learning and progress. My drawing master is the Chilean painter Hernán Valdovinos. Currently, I am studying under Master José Luis Bueno Shin, who teaches the methodology of self-referential meditations, the Shintergy method that blends science and spirituality.

I have also trained with Jim Rhon from the United States, Omar Villalobos from Mexico, and the Seiki Shiatzu master Alejandro Cohen. I am very grateful to all of them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

First, I would take her to the Museum of Fine Arts. After that, we would go to have lunch at the Chinese restaurant “Danubio Azul.” Then, we would take a walk and stroll through the Sculpture Walk in Providencia. After walking for a while, I would take my friend to have tea at a place my mom used to take me when I was a child, called Café Villa Real, located beside the Teatro Oriente. I have always loved that place because it still has a mural by the Chilean painter Cuca Burchard.

The menu at the café is as follows:
Iced coffee with a scoop of a sweet treat in a tall glass, topped with lots of whipped cream. For a snack, the typical Chilean “churrasco,” which is a sandwich with sliced tomatoes, avocado, and pieces of meat.

Later in the afternoon, I would take her to my neighborhood in the eastern sector of the capital, near the hills. The evening is very pleasant for a walk, feeling the breeze of the sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
